To be honest All hell it's not just Northampton away. Accrington away , Mansfield away and Leeds away his spoilt my day.
I thought Orpington and Bromley were the preferred location for caravan dwellers ? The caravans down here are mainly owned by Londoners
The problem in this country is that everything is rotten from top to bottom. There is no party that will address the need for a) core services (power water, transport) to be publicly owned, b) for English children (and parents) to recognise the value of education, c) proper management of taxpayers funds. The corruption in both Labour and Conservative ranks, leaving aside the fringe parties, is staggering but there are not enough people ready to educate themselves and speak out about it. This forum interests me because everyone here is intelligent and articulate, it should be a good place for exchange of views on the appropriate threads. When I say everyone, I mean all those more than 1 metre tall, of course ... I enjoy the differing political views aired here, but I don't see any need for things to become personal.
I am trying to limit the politics to specific threads - though I appreciate there is a lot of politics just now in the thread about fans booing the knee-taking. When we have threads about controversial issues that evoke strong feelings (Brexit, racism/BLM, and to a lesser extent Coronavirus and the current affairs thread) sometimes these seem to dominate the whole forum, especially when things may be quiet on the footballing front. We've no midweek game, so it's a little while until Saturday 12th. Between now and then we might/might not get a deal with the EU, the US Senate is supposed to ratify Biden as the next President, and we've got vaccines about to be given on a mass scale. And right now we have the 'outrage' over fans booing things they aren't supposed to boo. So a fairly busy few days of news & current affairs. I feel sympathy with members who aren't really interested in those matters and would rather talk more about Charlton or other football topics. Those members are welcome to begin new conversations with threads, and we'll all chip in if we have something to offer.
Hilarious that you of all people have posted this, and Shabby of all people has Liked it It’s a circular conversation that has been had many times before. This is a football forum that should be about football. It’s all we agree on. @lardiman ?
I don't mind a bit of politics, just not too much. And apart from the topic of the Donald I keep it moderate. Even then it's not so much his politics more his character that I detest, and it was the same with Corbyn.
