ANYTHING can happen this season, teams are now conditioned to playing with no crowds, just repetitive background noise!!!! What will happen when 4000 fans [ or 2000 ] spoil the status quo! FORM went out the window last season on the restart! settled down after 4 or 5 games but 2 or 3 teams really bombed it! YOU'LL probably get 2000 quota to start then 4 before we get 2000. Latest over here is first 40 photo's of the Yate rave WANTED list is out plus news that 2 of the "retained?" ..? were tested positive. tier 3 almost guaranteed

Didn’t see the game tonight but told we were terrible albeit had a dubious decision go against us.
There’s too much wrong here which seriously needs change.
To be so close to the drop zone into late November is unacceptable.

I would normally say home games against Luton and Huddersfield would be certain 3 pointers for us but given our current form, or lack of it, makes that extremely doubtful.

Having seen our pi$$ poor recent performances they will come to us full of confidence and expect something from the games.

Harris seems incapable of varying tactics. In many respects that is the downfall of playing a big guy upfront. It is inevitable we spend most of the time playing the ball up to him instead of seeking alternatives. We limit ourselves in that respect by persisting with Pack. We have also shot ourselves in the foot by only having one, injured right back and Bacuna playing there so we lose the one guy capable of driving forward with the ball with some pace.

Should we risk playing a left back, say Bennett, at right back and use Cunningham who has been uninspiring at best, at left back if fit - or give Bagan a go? He has done okay so far.

Assuming we do that then Bacuna to midfield in place of who? Pack or Ralls? Or drop them both and bring Vaulks back in?

Do we give Bamba or the loan guy a shout at centre back? If so who gets dropped, Morro or Nelson? However if messing around with full backs and midfield it is probably best to have stability in the centre back pairing.

Some have advocated resting Smithies although he has been stuffed by appalling mistakes in front of him, other than Saturday's Millwall goal. Phillips is a good keeper but again I don't advocate further change - for now.

Top 4, clearly Wilson has one of the spots, hopefully pushed further forward where he can do most damage. Despite my continued reservations about Moore, he has to start.

That leaves 2 from Ojo, Hoilett and Murphy unless he wants to play Glatzel alongside Moore. That indicates route one stuff which most sides seem equipped to play against.

You can't really put a fag paper between the 3 wingers. All have had moments where we think they are the answer but have flattered to deceive.

This all points to us having a squad of limited ability without Tomlin so Harris has to make do with what he has. It would help if he could show some ability to motivate, tactical ability and get more from the squad. To me that is very doubtful.

Finally, why on earth bring on Mark Harris after 94 minutes? He was not going to change anything and will hardly be a better player for the experience.

Yours, pi$$ed off from Bridgend, not looking forward to the next 2 games - and beyond.

    Good post Bluey. <ok>

Hope you don't mind but I've shifted it to the CCFC Season Thread as it's more of a good discussion point than the last night's matchday thread

Do you always play lump-it football up to Moore? I thought most of the time he was ineffective trying to get Hoilett into the game. We had the same against Blues and Jutkiewiz last week and thought we managed both of them quite well. How feckin big are your players tho? only Wilson looked under 6'

We've been saying for ages that Moore will only be really effective if he gets quality crosses from the byeline. The hoofing is a legacy from the days of Mr Warnock and Mr Harris doesn't seem to know how to get us out of it.

Hi Robbie Good win for you guys the other night. Can't you get back to the Ricoh next time we play you?

You have hit the nail on the head about the use of Moore and lack of tactical variety. Clingo's point about our inability to cross from the by line is also true. Playing left footed wingers on the right and vice versa on the left does not help as they always look to cut inside their defender to get the ball on their preferred foot.

Moore is successful for Wales as he has the likes of Bale, Ramsey, Allen, James, Brooks and Wilson around him. He shouldn't fail to score with the skill and service they provide.

We have........ Wilson but it looks to me like his confidence is taking a knock. There is also Tomlin when fit. With him playing we look a different side with so much more variety. Unfortunately we are not going to see him on the pitch until January/February.

We have great reservations about Harris' motivational and tactical skills. If our next 2 results go against us, we could be looking for a new manager in a week's time.

to be fair you have only lost 5 games 2 more than us and drawn 2 more it is early days. Besides 13 being your feature number, pld 13 GF13 .. GA 13 your last game you lost to Coventry , our first game was win against them. Hindsight really would point to both having been a draw [ bad decisions /luck!]
    your last 6 results D L W L D L * 7 could be W [ or a D not had back to back L yet ]….. LUTON look very defensively minded conceded 13 …. dah dah dah..! :emoticon-0105-wink:

Major downside is after the collision with Morrison, our keeper Marosi is out for months with a depressed fracture of the eye socket and cheekbone. Will need surgery after the swelling goes down, we have drafted the ever youthful Lee Camp in on a 2 months emergency contract

it's got a mixed reaction this end too, Sparks. but with an inexperienced No 2 /3 we had to get someone in quick and he has been keeping fit training at Sheff Weds

Put it this way robbie - if he'd been in goal for you against us on Wednesady, we still wouldn't have scored if he had one arm tied behind his back. <ok>

He had last season at Birmingham and didn't let them down. Home from home then.

You have to feel for the guy but have to also question how he passed a medical and why we spent several million on a guy with his injury record.

Don't like any sportsperson suffering injury.
Colin signed a few carrying injury, including patterson.
Not sure how a medical is carried out on an injured player. I assume there are caveats. This guy had a long history of injuries though.
