I was right to fear your answer. Clubs employ experts in their fields, be that nutritionists, physiotherapists, psychologists etc. These experts are not there to persuade us to buy books.

Drones are not a form of coaching differently. Many of us are visual learners. I am. A drone is a standard teaching tool in football to assist visual learning. Video is used all over football in differing forms to provide different perspectives of play etc.. Kids teams use drones if they can afford them - Bristol football development centres certainly use drones.

the head line sometime back [ +3years?] was LEE Johnson introduces a drone to the training field, also a few headlines/news on Lee's "new approach concepts"... was that not LEE at all then?
Q What are drones for then? if not for aiding coaching! To me a drone records a record of what it see's, the live moment in time, recorded until deleted. On the field at ground [eye ] level amongst 10 + players your eyes may take in all around you but only focus's on one aspect at a time.
the drone has recorded everything, albeit from what ever height it is set at [ expensive drones can be set to follow a massive menu's ] and one is hover at preset height another follow a player? programmed to follow set courses etc and stay in the air for 30+minutes
a fantastic training aid in my book

in this modern day of technology you can order on phone or computer from some local Chinese take aways ..so I would guess that is 2 menu's you need to use the tech one [ phone etc] and the food one last Chinese I went in the menu went up number 69 ….. which was prawn crackers!
been thinking of upgrading my drone £489 BFD from £699 umm is that 2 on top or bottom? :emoticon-0125-mmm::emoticon-0125-mmm::emoticon-0125-mmm:

I posted drones are a coaching tool. You are agreeing with me. Three years ago I defended the use of drones on here at BCFC because they were already a standard coaching addition. BCFC were not reflecting new training ideas.

So you learn by watching the drone footage and can pick up on what was missed and adopt a different tactic in how a player was not coached or responded / didn't respond to coaching advice he was given, given task /info/ method he translated in the wrong way / or right way, a sort of eye in the sky making sure he does as asked!...……..:emoticon-0160-movie

You was right mate, I remember the discussion, I'm learning, I was one of the people that thought drones were 'Gizmos' and a waste of money, fair play to you.

The player may not do as asked but the coach should do what he can to ensure a player understands what is expected. Coaching badges contain modules on how we as humans learn. Coaching should thus reflect the differing learning styles of humans.

A beauty of video is it is not ambiguous. The player can see that is him and he is not meeting expectations. Add video to gps tracking and it creates a stream of data and information that can be provided to players with standards and goals e.g. can you run this distance, complete these speeds more often in these areas .. The of these tools are endless.

Lee Johnson comes across as someone who always needs to try and justify himself. I can't remember him ever putting his hand up and admitting he got something wrong. This behaviour is a welcome gift to those people who didn't rate him in the first place - and to be honest it's exasperating for those of us (like me) who actually tried to support him during his tenure.
His record for us wasn't actually that bad - in fact it was rather good - every season an improvement on the previous (cue the 'spent the most money' responses). He is FAR from being the worst manager we have ever had in charge. If he ditched the spin and the excuses - and stopped publicly blaming others for things going wrong then he might endear himself a bit better.

Clearly intelligent but not switched on enough to turn it off. Nine seasons as a manger with no success. When you talk so much the t shirt needs something on it!!

I know I am in the minority but I think LJ was the biggest mistake Lansdown ever made, 4 years investment and we made 4 places, what a waste.
