Yeah I really enjoyed DNA . I didnt expect that twist at the end . BBC 4 seem to save the better ones for the Autumn/Winter . I enjoy most of them . Inspector Mobtalbano would be ok but The assistant in the office spoils it .
I've tried to get into those but struggle to get past the first two episodes. Especially the "Walter Presents" stuff. Not sure if it's the language, or the location/atmosphere but it puts me off. Have to admit, BBC4 was about the documentaries for me. They're so well made. But nowt original recently. Did they do Ann Boleyn one the other night? Who hasn't seen enough documentaries or docu-dramas about Henry and Ann Boleyn? Been done to death so couldn't be arsed to watch it. God I sound like a miserable git
The Walter Presents stuff is More4, look up The Same Sky, great little series set in Berlin during the World Cup of 1974 when East Germany played West Germany.
Yes, quite enjoyed that. Liked the Sex Crimes 37 set in Ghent, shown on Walter Presents. Main detective, Hannah Maes is fit. Good seeing the seedier sides of European cities you don't see as a visitor. And the non political correct cops, smoking like chimneys and drinking like fish.
I've watched a couple of the 1st episodes of some Walter presents then when I go to watch the next episode you have to pay
Starting on bbciplayer, all 7 seasons of Spiral. What a binge watching treat for anyone who hasn't seen it. Well worth watching again if you have as well. And, even better, series 8 starts in January.
A staircase... No, it is a French police series. Interesting to see how their different judicial system works. A refreshing lack of PC nonsense in it as well. Highly recommended.
Thanks for the tip. I watched the last 2 series and really enjoyed them. I have just watched episode 1 of series one. Its great because my wife does not like watching things with sub titles so I have Laure all to myself.
Wouldn't mind being a cop like them in Paris. Not an on the beat flic of course. Going around in scruffy clothes, picking your gun up on the way out, screwing on the job, drinking on it...Notice how many are smoking compared to on our TV. Interesting to see how the role of prosecutor and judge are different to what we perceive under the Code Napoleon. I always enjoyed the performance of the bloke playing the part of Robin. Series 2 was probably my favourite.
I enjoyed The Last Igloo. One of those quiet films which you can you get lost in, cracking views. Following a lone hunter in Greenland It's on iplayer too
Have yet to watch the last 2 episodes. Was still enjoying the Spiral back catalogue.72 episodes take some getting through.
Great to see the East Riding featured on today's BBC1 "Escape to the Country" - specifically the shots of Beverley & shot's of Humber Bridge from Hessle foreshore.
We've watched the earlier episodes of Spiral when they've been on - really enjoyed them and we're looking forwards to the coming series. We wondered about revising by watching the last series again but just can't find the time after reviewing the whole set of The Bridge (loved it!), the series recording of Valhalla (OK) and with DNA still to squeeze in. We also enjoy Montalbano and Young Maltanbano - ludicrous plots, dodgy acting and one or two anoying characters aside we just love the locations and picking up a bit of Italian slang as we go.
Over Xmas I watched all 3 series of the Royale Family. 2 things I found out. 1. Several episodes I had never seen before when I thought I had seen all of them. 2. Never realised Noel Gallagher wrote and sang the opening. I must have lived a very sheltered life.
