Good Morning. It's Wednesday 25th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Is BLM losing its appeal?

England Rugby players Billy Vunipola, Ben Earl and Henry Slade all decided not to take part in the Black Lives Matter stance as England got their campaign off to a winning start against Georgia last weekend.

This comes after Lincoln City became the latest club to confirm their players will no longer initiate ‘taking a knee’ before games earlier this month.

We all heard Les Ferdinand's stance on the matter last month. The former England striker and current QPR Chief Executive was quoted as saying 'taking the knee is now good PR' and little more!

Has BLM's association with Antifa caused irreparable harm to their cause? Were the English football authorities right to jump aboard the BLM cause? Is there a change is overall opinion whether players should still be taking the knee before each game?

Lincoln City's Captain Liam Bridcutt was quoted as saying: “Speaking to other players, it wasn’t that we were not going to take the knee for whatever reason, it was more of a case that we feel like we can do more.

Orta outlines transfer window plans for January

Victor Orta has admitted Leeds United will need to be ‘really clever’ in the winter transfer market, outlining the difficulties that January poses for the club.

The Leeds Utd Director of football oversaw a record breaking Summer for the Whites spending circa 100m just two months on four headline acts as well as making the transfers of Meslier and Costa permanent.

A club record 27m was splashed out on Spanish International forward Rodrigo. This was quickly followed up with the 13m signing of German International Robin Koch. Fellow centre back Diego Llorentre (18m) came next, and lastly exciting Brazilian winger Raphinha made the trip across the Channel for circa 20m.

Leeds have bagged 11 points from their last 9 games, but have not won in 6 games.

Not only does Orta have to consider finding the right players who will enhance the side, but needs to take into consideration the financial struggles imposed on football by the covid 19 pandemic.

“For me firstly, it’s [about] availability,” “You go to a player who is playing in a lower division, or you go for a player who is not playing in your division or at another level, it is a risk. “The availability of the players is limited by that. Obviously, the way to choose is limited, so you [can’t always] make a proper choice [in January].

“The situation with economics is strange. I think people want to sell - but don’t sell because they need to buy. They don’t want to spend. It makes it a strange market again. “I am not a proper fan of the January market, I [have] always said that. The stats say the same about our business in the winter market [recently].”

“We need to be really clever,” “If one option appears, who we think clearly improves the squad, obviously [we need to] be ready to make [an offer]. “Now, I trust a lot the squad we have, I trust a lot the ways of our staff in living for Marcelo. [The] winter market is a circumstance and one we need to evaluate carefully.”

Leeds sign up with Jay-Z's entertainment agency

Leeds United have signed a partnership with Roc Nation - an entertainment agency founded by rapper Jay-Z.

They join the likes of Rihanna, Alicia Keys and DJ Khaled, as well as footballers Kevin De Bruyne and Marcus Rashford who are just a few of the celebrities looked after by Jay-Z's business venture. Roc Nations aim is to “support the growth of the Leeds United brand in key markets of the USA and Asia.”

Talk Sport pundit Simon Jordan has approved of the deal that’s seen Leeds United become the first Premier League club to partner with Jay-Z’s agency. The former Crystal Palace owner said the challenge for Leeds was to rebuild a brand diminished by time in exile out of the Premier League.

“I think if you look at the owner, Andrea Radrizzani, their challenge is the Premier League has moved on a lot in the last 17 years, and their livery has diminished despite being a leading club in the 70s,” Jordan said.

“They have lost a lot of lustre, not because we don’t recognise them as a big club but because they’re not recognised as a big club in Malaysia, in China, and the like.

“Part of the opportunity is to rebuild that. The only thing that will do that is, not some highfalutin rock star’s media agency, but their continued participation in the Premier League.

“Leeds have an opportunity to get back some of the ground they lost but it’s a hell of an ask to catch up with Man United and Liverpool. But why not?”

“You get an expert in the field,” Jordan said. “He may occupy a real connection with the next raft of viewers, the 20 somethings. He might have the zeitgeist on that.”

“Do Leeds United have the ability to take fans away from the likes of Liverpool and Man United?” White asked.

“That’s the $64,000 question. It’s a big ask but if you’re not going to push the envelope you’re not going to find out. It could add another string to their bow.”

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

The BLM thing was done on here yesterday and not for the first time so Inwill only add this: when taking the knee first happened and Sky Sports were displaying the BLM logo a couple of the Jeff Stelling pundits kicked off and said do you realise what these people stand for.... within 2 days Jeff had 3 of his team sacked it was only later that Sky Sports realised they were displaying a logo for a marxist organisation that wanted to tear down society and sack the police. They then said well black lives matter yada yada yada. Of course black lives matter but our media has gone tonto over something they dont understand and because they rush to signal their virtue stupidly and people lose their jobs. They then said we needed to make the show look younger. Well we’ve seen that happen at the BBC too and its dog shyte

On the January window I believe Orta has someone earmarked because he normally says we are not doing anything unless something happens...... we have a loan place still available?

    Morning all,

Agree with Doc, the BLM/kneeling matter has been discussed at length and another lengthy conversation today will only add to the feeling of resentment to it, This is the opposite of what the message it is trying to get across.

The link up with Rocnation is an exciting step forward and is a major step in rebuilding our global brand. We have something in place already that will only make it easy for their PR team and that is Marcelo Bielsa and a style of play that is exciting and entertaining to watch.

Imagine if you were a PR expert and your job was to sell the, lets say Burnley, style of play to American fans who were just starting to get into football. As to the question can we catch up with the Scum or Liverpool?

Liverpool- no. Scum- soon. The Scum are living on past glories and while they have a Norwegian PE teacher in charge playing poor football with less & less superstar names then the gap will only get smaller.

Rocnation is now one if the best sports agencies in the world and has top people involved. Hemese is right about the Burnley brand of football and as an example today we find that Bielsa has been nominated for the Fifa coach if the year along with ZZm Klopp, Flick and one other. Klopp will probably win but you never know because Bielsa did it by making players better. Also Gary Neville said yesterday that when you see Liverpool or Leeds Utd play you get excited

    Good morning everyone
Hope you and your families are all well.
Would i have taken this start, at the beginning of the season, you bet i would.
This is a steep learning curve for Bielsa and everyone at the club, i firmly believe that as the season progresses our position will only improve, especially when more players are fit again.Like the sound of Orta's January talk tone, i agree with Doc, that he has someone earmarked for that window.Leeds are an exciting team to watch with an exciting future, especially once the stadiums are full again. So only one way for Leeds and that's onwards & upwards.
MOT everyone as a top ten finish is where we will be come end of the season.

Is it possible that the player potentially in mind for January is a player we were linked with in the summer Cantwell/De Paul etc or have they looked at whats happened so far in the Prem and identified a weakness that needs fixing?

For me I think the most important thing is cover for Phillips.

Been a lot written about De Paul and he scored again last weekend and he wants to leave Udinese but to play CL football. So although we were very interested in him his club refused to reduce the asking price. That price is too steep for any club except top CL clubs and even then. He accepts that he would love to play for Bielsa and knows much about Leeds but ......I cannot see Cantwell coming unless Norwich reduce their price but where would he fit and he cannot even get into the Norwich side now. Buendia is someone I like but he was sent off the other night and we do need a No10 and we know that because we went for Cuisance and so a hole still to fill and thats where any new player will go. Ryan Kent is way over priced and we offered £10m which was knocked back. Kent mouthed off about wanting to stay but Rangers set a £20m release clause and then Kent sacked his agent? So we know Orta and Bielsa like him because he can play wide or 10 and that maybe the player but only because if the sacking of the agent. Was he sacked because he wanted a move or because he stopped a move?

there are other players in Spain and Italy and even France and Germany who we were linked with and we have another loan berth. We also know Bielsa likesa couple if young Argentine kids? Ut I think someone will be coming in January and think its a done deal already

So Bielsa has made the five man short list for Fifas Best Mens Coach. This has caused uproar amongst other clubs fans with one asking "How has he frauded his way onto this list?"
Can anyone on here think of a reason why he should not be on the list?

Marcelo Bielsa is on the list because he took a mid table Championship team on an average budget and got them promoted to the best league in world football. Doing it by winning the league by 10 points and having the best statistics for every criteria in football except chance conversion. He improved very player and by doing so increased the value of every player. In an era of financial instability Bielsa has demonstrated what a good coach can do who doesnt have massive money

He rebuilt the club from the ground up and redesigned the academy taking into Cat 1 status. Under his reign the U18s U20s and U23s plus the U7s have won national trophies and leagues using Bielsaball techniques
So no idea why Bielsa deserves to be recognised

Talksport have several new pundits on air who are actually thick as dog muck and offer no intelligent debate.

Agbhongalor steadfastly refuses to admit Bielsa is good at anything. Agbhongalor is an ex professional footballer. If he can't see what makes Bielsa one of the best then he is absolutely stealing a living by being paid for his opinion.

Most of the hacks on talksport are wums. They have to say outrageous bull crap just to keep themselves relevant.

Only a couple worth listening to on there now really. Laura Woods in the morning is good, very balanced.
Simon Jordan is the most intelligent person on the station when that twat Jim White actually let's him talk.

Too many media outlets more interested in boxes than serving customers, so viewers/listeners/readers decline. Classic case in point is BBC Question Time who now have only just over half a million viewers. They brought in a biased lefty woman presenter and gave her £1m+ salary and the combined license fee from those viewers doesnt cover her wages. Female Dr Who cancelled because too woke. Go woke go broke simple
