Great stuff, but not as good as The Band or the Staples/Band versions. They were such a fantastic band but ended up in a very sad place. The biography 'Across the Great Divide' was one of the most depressing books I've read. I went into it a huge fan of Robertson but ended up disillusioned with the man. They truly were a band at the time of the Big Pink LP but the fall-out of that was band members feeling Robertson had hogged the limelight and the songwriting fees, whereas the feeling was many songs were team efforts. The Weight was a case in point. Van Morrison always said the heart and soul of the Band was Richard Manuel. Here he is with Van on the the most, raucous and wonderfully noisy track ever laid down on an LP.....4% Pantomime. 4% Pantomime - YouTube
Well worth a watch alright, good insight into the actions which led to the atrocity, and the aftermath of dealing with it
I found it very boring. Interesting getting an insight into the disaster but i would have much rather watched a documentary on it. I definitely wouldn't recommend this as a drama for people wanting any sort of entertainment
I watched a good documentary on it before as well, "Chernobyl 3828" - very good. It wouldn't be viewing for light entertainment, that's for sure.
Not sure if it's been mentioned previously as It's a few years old now, have any of you watched True Detective series 1? Some of the finest TV I have ever watched. Get on that if you haven't.
Second series is watchable, not near as good. The third series reverts back to a similar forumla to that of series one and is worth a watch as well if you get a chance. Here's a parody of McConaughey from TD1, very well done if I do say so myself...
To be honest i didn't even know they'd done a third series. I did like the look of the second series from the trailers but never got round to watching it. I'm just about done re watching The Sopranos. Two episodes left, my wife had never seen it so i've made her sit through it. One of my all time favourites. The acting and writing in it is second to none.
I've only ever intermittently watched the Sopranos and have made a few attempts to go start to finish with it as I've heard so much good about it, but always falls by the way side. I must start watching and stick with it
First episode where Tony and Chris chase down the bloke who owes them money and Tony runs him over in Chris' car, then feigns concern asking how he is and punches his leg just above where the bone is sticking out and says "where's my ****ing money" - brutal
The Wire is one i'll go back to aswell. Didn't make it all the way through. Struggled with it a bit but i was watching maybe two episodes a week when i could without the kids around so i think if i could binge that i'd like it more. I'll probably give Breaking Bad another go at some point too. Might be better with my expectations lowered.
I am in a simialir position atm, caught with a little 1 year old ankle biter beginning to run around, finding time to sit and watch anything has become few and far between. Mostly watch sport if I get the chance in the evening and hard to get the missus to agree to watch anything with a semblance of violence in it. Yet I have to sit through I'm A Celebrity and Bake Off, what about this compromise they talk about
I'm watching The Mandalorian at the moment, that's child friendly so i can manage that but i really want to watch the second series of The Boys on amazon and that most definitely isn't child friendly.
