true, the same car can be virtually undrivable if set up wrong and the car the other side of the garage unbeatable.
there is so ,much more to racing an F1 car than just putting the best driver in it and expecting resullts.
Hamilton sometimes showed he was scratching his head setting the car up compared to button and vice versa.

hamilton is a more seat of the pants driver you look at his onboard and the wheel see-saws going both into and out of a corner. whereas button was a one move in and one move out. that takes some skill.
hamilton used to be impatient and had more accidents. he doesnt now because his car is so dominant he's usually in clear air.

people forget the advantages being out in front all alone gives you. far less dnf's due to contact or overtaking incidents.

it makes it so much easier not just the fact you are faster but it puts you out of trouble making you immune to all the incidents that the pack experience which gives him an even bigger air of superiority.

button sussed how to beat hamilton just like rosberg did. in his mind he is childlike at times and is so easy to wind up. remember all the strife he went through alongside rosberg? you could see him nearly crying like a baby at times. thats when he wasnt sulking.

bottas hasnt got that in his character to puch hamiltons buttons because he knows he would be dropped in an instant so just plays lap dog.

put ricciardo or verstappen alongside him and they would soon have his head totally mashed and once the self doubt creeps in lets see who is the best driver of his generation when hes publishing leaked team data on twitter as an excuse

there are several great drivers in F1 at the minute and any one of them would have 5 world titles if in a dominant mercedes

You said 'he just isnt as good as what people reckon', which is grammatically appalling, but suggested you didn't rate him.

He could have had many more offs in the last race, oddly like the others he had he'd have kept on going. This Hamilton fans says ' Bottas isn't in the same league as Hamilton' but neither is anyone else at present.

Vettel was a worthy champion, took risks that came off most of the time, his time is gone now though. Fancy going off on a soaking wet track, cuh!

purely by the tone of your last reply i see i am wasting my time and so wont bother anymore .
    but....
by his own admission Bottas claimed he had a nightmare with 6 incidents -offs and contact. he freely admitted he was too eager to try and shoot up the inside and made contact with a renault?
spun and off 4 or 5 times. 3 times in one lap. he is happy to admit he had a mare
ands yet you see fit to give him an excuse.
so as not to reduce his standing?

vettel was in a car head and shoulders better than anyone elses. he stole webbers title - a combination of helmut marko and horner conspiring to sabotage the aussies challenge.
i read webbers book. feel real sorry for him.

Firstly, you say Hamilton is not the best, how can you judge that when others who you think are better haven't been in the car?

Mercedes obviously think Hamilton is a top driver, as they have stuck with him for several years now. They are not stupid, they know he is consistently the best driver. Others like Verstappen for example on his day can be faster, but he takes risks, and as yet IMO is not consistent enough. Whether he will be only TWT, the World Championship is a marathon, not a sprint, and that is what the top teams look for in a driver.

In any sport, the best footballers go to the best teams and win the most trophy's, it's the same in Motor racing they go to the best teams and get the best cars, that's how life is.

I don't know why you have this negativity towards Hamilton, he has won 7 world championships, give the guy some credit.

Unbelievable. I changed channels just before half time to watch the start of the race. I've seen dozens of fires in F1 but that explosion was something else. Deathly silence in my house until we saw a dazed Grosjean sat in the back of the medical car, somehow alive. Then came the footage of him sat in a fireball having gone through the barrier leaving half his car behind, freeing himself and jumping over the barrier, it's amazing he's still here.

I wasn't a fan of the halo but it's undoubtedly saved a life today.
