Working there today lardy , like all places there is good and bad parts, luckily I’m working in a very idyllic country village - absolutely beautiful round here
A Danish Video examining the effectiveness of masks has been removed by Youtube. For most it's just another opinion, but the reaction is a bit too Putinesque for me. ps. The Isle of Sheppey for a foreigner may sound very appealing, so best not endanger the holiday revenue of this exotic hideaway.
I've never been convinced by most of the arguments for mask wearing (aside from wearing them as part of PPE for professional healthcare workers). Personally I find them a nuisance and rather demoralising. And I think on balance they barely do more good than harm. But where the rules say I have to wear one, I do comply. Any alternative views on mask wearing (or any other anti-COVID measures) must be mindful of the wider importance of accepting the principles of cooperation and selflessness in the general struggle to keep infection rates down and protect the vulnerable. I can understand some platforms being sensitive, even over-sensitive, to what they might see as subversive material likely to erode the collective effort. Even if that was not the intention of whoever puts forward those alternative views.
The latest evidence from Sweden is that they reduce your chance of catching it by 20%. As far as I know there are no figures for how much it reduces your chance of passing it on if you're asymptomatic, which is the main reason for wearing them. One of FHB jnr's flatmates is a pharmacist at Nottingham Hospital, where she recently caught the virus. Surprisingly she was not allowed a test at first when she felt mildly unwell, only when she developed a fever. His other 2 flatmates were given tests at the uni, one positive one negative. He has been told not to get a test unless he develops symptoms. It seems the rules on testing are interpreted differently depending on where you work.
Palace's only half-decent player? How many Charlton fans are there who wouldn't enjoy a laugh at Zaha's expense. Not many. Hardly 'hate'. A word devalued by being flung around far too lightly these days.
My 99p Spar mask is bottom of the list at 7% protection. I couldn't wear it for a while because of my long covid breathing problems, but I do now just to stop people moaning. I think they had a negative effect as social distancing seemed to be forgotten when they became compulsory.
I don’t hate anybody. Apart from Characters like Adolf Hitler, the Yorkshire Ripper.etc Not liking Wilfred Zaha is inter club banter. If you knew me Gelan you wouldn’t ask the question. I am loveable and cuddly. I hate hatred and bigotry.
Work commuting in London at the moment is a hair raising (sic) experience. A ridiculous amount of people are not wearing face masks. I would like to iron some of them out. Inconsiderate, ignorant cnuts.
I'm no fan of masks, but if I had to use public transport I would wear one because those are the rules. Same as in supermarkets or shops. I don't envy you at all @Horrendous Hairpiece having to use public transport. Where is the enforcement of rules? On a few stations I guess, but not on the trains themselves.
Dork of the Day ... Jack Grealish In court for the 4th time charged with careless driving after smashing up his £80,000 tractor against two other cars while leaving an illegal lockdown party at the end of March. When Pundits like Kammy say you're the closest thing we have to Gazza Jack, they're talking about your football. Not your ability to behave like a muppet off the pitch.
