I found these in the autograph book that I had as a child - I’d guess these are from around 1970 or 1971 because I have most of the Glamorgan team that played Oxford Uni at Llandarcy in July 1971 in the same book. I thought that those of a similar vintage to me would like to see these!
Mine are some box in my loft. Got a few of those in Taff's pic myself. How refreshing to see a nice clear white shirt devoid of any brands
in the early 60s Herbie took my autograph book and got all of the opposition to sign it - wish I had it now - I don't see Screeno (Tony) in the picture - or am I missing him?
No - he’s not in it! Standing left to right: Dai Gwyther, Clive Slattery, Willie Screen, Carl Slee, Tony Millington, Dai Davies, David Lawrence, Geoff Thomas, Herbie Williams, Doug Rosser Front row left to right: Roy Saunders, Len Allchurch, Len Hill, Alan Williams, Roy Bentley, Barrie Hole, Brian Evans, Vic Gomersall, Harry Griffiths
It's fun if you're a kid. Or if it's a signed team picture or the like I can see the attraction and it could be valuable one day. Never had an autograph book myself but I do have one signed picture - I'll dig it out and post a pic.
Seeing Dilwyn John's autograph reminds me of that North Bank ditty, lyrics by Bacharach and David, music by the North Bankers. " Aye yay a yay, Dilwyn is better than Yashin, Herbie's much better than Eusebio, And Cardiff are in for a thrashing. " Anyone else remember singing that classic ?
