It doesn’t fit in with the overall narrative of a certain type of left winger, but you only have to use London public transport every day to see where the very evident issues are.
Christmas 'bubbling' plans being agreed by four home nations... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55036797 All seems a bit of a waste of time to me. These people should have more important pandemic issues to deal with. There is no scientific justification for easing anti-virus measures over a few days of a national holiday period. So why even devalue the science by pretending there is any common sense to this process? All the Governments had to do, was put out a statement saying whatever rules are already in place over the Christmas period still apply, but they just won't be enforced for a few days. So families can gather for Christmas Day & Boxing Day without fear of the rozzers knocking on their front door. Just make it clear that there will be limits to this 'looking the other way' - such as parties of over 20 (for example) or large gatherings at commercial venues will still be broken up. Simply let relatives come and enjoy a day or two with their families. That would take all of about 10 minutes to draft. Not days of video haggling between all the devolved governments.
Madness. So there would of been people in tier 3 who couldn't work before this lockdown, theyve then got this lockdown for a month. After this lockdown they probably go back into tier 3 till Christmas, then everyone can have a party for a few days before then heading back into lockdown mid / end of January.
The whole thing is a fuking farce .suppose to be in lockdown but again Whitstable was as busy as ever with ‘trippers’ tucking into gusto boxes and pack lunches **** OFF!!! and stay where your supposed to be!
I gather removal companies will be classed as non essential work in January. They'll be closed. Madness.
The excellent news on the Oxford vaccine this morning - a 90% efficacy rate after 1.5 doses - means that the U.K. will be in a very good position by February. I would be fairly confident that we will be back watching Charlton every week by March next year. It would be a fitting bookend to “the Covid Year” @TC (Lovely Geezer) if the huge crowds were allowed back at the Cheltenham Festival in March. It was the day after this years jamoboree - which thankfully I attended - that the lockdown measures started to kick in. Long live the Cheltenham Festival & CAFC
No way Kojak. It will be a phased return(a bit like your hairline), % of fans will increase gradually(a bit like your waistline).
Oh dear. The economy and business can’t afford a phased return. You will notice the difference when your charity shop re-opens. The 50p rack will have to be reduced to 25p.
Another arsewipe on the radio this morning blaming pub and restaurant goers for the "R" number going up, though everyone I know that's been eating or drinking out says they've never seen anyone breaking the rules. If he's such a paragon of virtue, why is he not on this forum?
After the amazing effort by the world's scientists to come up with vaccines it would be good if more people would trust proper scientific research, but sadly history proves that scientific discoveries don't go down well when they contain bad news. People will then find ways to argue that they know better.
I think it's obvious that the majority trust scientific research, otherwise nobody would visit their doctor. Unless of course you have evidence to the contrary.
Curiously, leafy Swale in Kent is the newest Coronavirus hotspot. They do have two prisons in the area, and One might expect high infection levels in those environments. But there is also very high infection in the community at large. This is being blamed by some on a large number of people simply disregarding the rules. Must admit, I would not have thought a 'nice' and presumably not very urban place like Swale would have a compliance problem.
Its got a Labour council for starters (clue) ...it’s near to the Isle of Sheppey too .....caravan prices collapsed in the area when @The mighty Elfsborg moved in.
