Quite a few people will be doing what they want to do for Christmas and bend the rules. Government says 6 oh 10 will be alright. So keep it low as it will keep the numbers down
Not sure what all the fuss is about. No radio station plays the full version of Money for Nothing by Dire Straits, because the word '***got' is used in an insulting manner several times. The original version of Games without Frontiers by Peter Gabriel uses a racist word, so only the 'radio edit' ever gets played. And plenty of songs (including Creep by Radiohead) use the work "f**k" or "f**king". So only 'clean' edits are played on air. The BBC doesn't want to play the version of 'Fairytale of New York' that contains homophobic and misogynistic abuse. People can presumably listen to the unedited version on other radio stations if they wish. I find the notion of a campaign to send a Christmas single to the top of the charts because it contains offensive language rather funny. Outraged anti-PC views are not immune from sounding just a bit ridiculous sometimes.
You know me well. Six people, two dogs and a goat. What? Animals love Xmas, they have their own stockings, and we make them wear party hats...photos will be forthcoming.
I doubt that the individual that banned the song was also involved with the cover up of Saville's crimes. Putting an umbrella up over any big corporation and branding everyone the same will not make it true, as Penguin so eloquently points out.
Don't underestimate the joy it gives to the right when the BBC makes a blunder. They are against it in principle because it's a public service, and have been trying to subvert its independence ever since Lord Tebbitt. I really don't think this forum needs a thread devoted to this propaganda.
I can't watch Fulham because I'm suffering from Parkeritus, a condition that makes you vomit when observing 1950's fashion.
The Kinks original version of Lola had Coca-Cola in the first verse, so Ray Davies had to overdub Cherrycola. The BBC wouldn't play it otherwise because they said it was advertising.
At least they would understand Elfs suffering.....no club, no future, never to return to their original home and a divided fan base.
