I think the replacement is the one who gave them a last minute pen to beat us last season when Mane got caught by a gust of wind as well. Seems fair! Tbf Coote would have been going out his way to give everything their way so probably either here nor there but will be embarrassing for them if they don’t win after handpicking the officials of their choice.

It demonstrably hasn’t come close to ridding the game of blatantly wrong decisions, and imo it never will, because in the end someone human still has to make a judgement call. Which they will sometimes get right and sometimes get wrong. Like they did before VAR began sucking all the joy out of watching live football.

As I said at the time of its introduction...subjective decisions being made subjectively, what can possibly go wrong!
Plus IMO it will make the standard of refereeing worse as they now hide behind decisions of others.

TBH I haven’t really delved into the salary cap details for us in the lower leagues, but don’t we have a maximum value for our squads. If that’s the case adding additional subs to the bench shouldn’t disadvantage any team?

It's ok if you can afford that maximum value I suppose. It was our gaffers words, so I assume he knows what he is talking about...

    https://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway...am-boss-steve-evans-against-five-subs-237471/

A chance to involve more players in a game is seen by Evans as an “unfair advantage.”

The subject was brought up during an “ask the gaffer” Q&A on Sunday, with Evans saying: “I wouldn’t vote for five. Look at the bench at Sunderland, compare that to us, it is an unfair advantage.

The more substitutes you can have, the more that will benefit larger squads, every time. How often is three not enough anyway? I know there have been times when managers have used up all their subs with minutes to go, and then someone has got injured, but that’s pretty rare in my experience.

He also the one who never gave pickford a red card for ending vvds season.

There will be nothing embarrassing about losing considering you'll be playing against a makeshift defence..

Will it be embarrassing if you lose to a decimated lfc side?

Exactly, it's always been regarded as russian roulette with subs, do i use them or hang on in case someone has to come off injured. It's part of the luck of the game, trying to make the right decisions and the right time.

Yup. You pays your money and you takes your chance, as my old dad would say .

Ralph Hasenhuttl loves a double sub with 20 minutes to go, when he's trying to win a game. That's because he's a gambler, and if you're going to gamble you have no business complaining when it goes wrong. You do, however, have every right to crow when it pays off. Them's the breaks.

    you would think that ordinarily.

I like to think the opposite. You can train your players to run like dogs and you can have plenty of middling to average players but who are solid enough.

Imagine a Sam Allardyce side where after defending raggedly until the 80th minute is able to change those players who are dead on their feet with some nice fresh defending legs.

The headlines are all about victimpool but no Ricardo, Soyuncu, Casagne, Ndidi and that’s with our injury problems the best they have been all season. Some clubs just get on with it and sit top regardless :emoticon-0148-yes:<cheers>

It’ll still be a bigger achievement than Istanbul (actual quote from a victimpool fan) if they beat us though <laugh> at home to an injury ravished mid table outfit with the officials of their choice and the excuses are out <doh>

For completeness, Daniel Amartey too ... he was in the team that won 5-1 at Citeh and was just starting to look back to his best ...

The crying about injuries is a bit special like. We’ve played 2 games this season with a 5ft 9” left back at centre half. They’ve gone for so long without suffering injuries that most clubs have had in spades they think it’s somehow unique. Der injuries mean more though yano.

Is Matty James still out injured all these years later, can we count him? (Surprisingly fit and out on loan)! It’s just hilarious how much is being made of it and the tantrums over officials. Happy we just go about our business <cheers>
