Mentioning the player is a surefire way to get him into a ****ing huge heap of trouble and basically guarantee that he never says a word about the club ever again to the people who are interested. Why on earth would he say it?

I know what you mean Chappaz but my view and experience is that when folk print stuff like this, they're talking out of their arse. Its like that guy Wraith with Newcastle, or some of the lads I know. "My mate knows Carroll from school and he said the following about him leaving................" People always want folk to believe they have the big scoup, its no better than our gutter journalism. If you know something, quote it properly and stand behind it or its just rumour for me. Not criticising you for creating an article out of it, perfectly valid talking point given his recent history with us. But we've seen this all before with Barton. Supposedly him and Cabaye hated each other. Turns out Joey was the first to welcome him and Cabaye spoke well of him before and after he left.

Some rumours are true, some are not. I don't think you can tar them all with the same brush.

As for Cabaye and Barton, well, I'm sure Barton is canny as anyone until he has a reason not to be. There were rumours about an argument at Leeds and Cabaye even said in his own words that training is sometimes tense with Barton there.

I wouldn't look much into Cabaye's comments as well. Of course he'll say nice things to the press. He's a modest man and won't want to stir trouble at the club he has JUST joined. Mind you, I do think they probably got a long to a degree, but it's more of a case of just putting up with each other and general chit-chat. In reality, Barton probably made some players feel a little uncomfortable, although they would never admit it.

I think I believe Cabaye. He seems a honest and straight bloke. I'm not gonna disbelieve it just because its about Barton. I'm not a big believer in trying to read into things, I just go on the facts you have to work with. To be honest it was blatantly obvious to me that all the players did like Barton at the QPR game. That speaks more volumes than rumours for me, and suggests they didn't feel uncomfortable at all. We've heard all sorts of things about footballers and if I had a penny for everytime I hear the line "that sounds about right with him" I'd be a rich man. Its the way this country is now, we love gossip!

Even Pards said if you took Twitter out of it, Joey had been a model pro with him. Unfortunately Barton has brought all this on himself. People will always look to stitch him up because he acted like an absolute arsehole when he was younger, and still has a bristly character. He'll have to live with that and I think he knows this.

Qpr has a team full of big egos such as barton, bothroyd and taarabt. Barton won't hesistate to call any player ****e or have a go when the team is playing below par. The thing is with these players they often put in below par performances themselfs but can never accept it and can't deal with it. And although they will occasioanlly produced moments of magic they won't ever reach the heights of players like gareth barry who are no where near as talented but have better discipline and more controlled on the pitch.

QPR are like man city- minus the talent. I can see barton falling out with bothroyd big time cos he's lazy and ****e 90 percent of the time but thinks he's amazing, taarabt has been quality but frustrating, I imagine JB is really regretting moving now

I don't believe these rumours in th OP are necessarily true, but I don't think losing Barton was the big deal everyone made it out to be. This has been proven by our results and the (perceived) team spirit as it is now. I'm sure he was a big character at the Toon, and this attitude helped us in a number of games last year, but I'm not sure we need that now, and I wouldn't necessarily put him in a preferred starting 11 for Newcastle now, seeing as we have all players fit.

Let's be honest, his whole "Newcastle have lost their best players, we are going to struggle unless we invest" rants on twitter have proved to be a load of rubbish anyway, and he should have got on with his job and trusted his bosses to do a good job, even if he didn;t agree with it.
