Only just popped in but that's fantastic news strolls. Let's hope everything is all good and we get to enjoy your regular posts
Wow, even the terminally useless Mishal Hussein skewers Alok Sharma, Secretary of State for err, ummm, business?!? over the £18bn worth of COVID related taxpayer funded government COVID contracts allocated under a brand new, fresh out of the box, procurement process, invented for the simple purpose, it seems to an ignorant outsider, for the Tories to give my money to their mates. The sweaty minister claimed (and this is true) that rather than simply speeding up the existing, at least semi transparent, civil service run approach, a new system was needed because “we were under pressure from the media to do things faster”. Which leads me to speculate that either our government is comprised of genuine idiots or that they hold us in such complete contempt that they don’t even bother to lie plausibly any more. Probably a mix of both. Meanwhile, nearly 600 deaths yesterday.
Full lockdown at Level 4 for most of the Central Belt in Scotland come Friday, except Inverclyde where I live which will stay in Level 3. Feel really sorry for all the independant traders that are losing out on all their pre-Christmas trade, be it retail or hospitality.
What, so your level 4 is like our current full English lockdown? Are the schools and unis still open?
It’s too kind on them to write this off as the incompetence of idiots. This was a calculated siphoning of public funds and represented terrible value to the taxpayer as well as the likelihood of multiple avoidable deaths as a direct result. Still though, Dianne Abbott or something.
No idea why we didn't go to full lockdown - there's still large areas of the country still at Level 2 and Level 3 as they have far fewer cases. I'd assume they were hoping the regional lockdowns would work, but certainly there's no drop off in Glasgow and the surrounding area so they need to do something. Schools and Unis will be open, but non-essential shops, gyms, restaurants and pubs will be closed under Level 4. Level 3 these are allowed to remain open, with pubs allowed to serve meals and non-alcoholic drinks until 6pm (level 2 they can serve alcohol with a main meal up to 10pm). No meeting of other households indoors at Level 3 & 4, at 3 you can meet one other household outdoors.
