To be fair they were not a bad bunch, as I said I lived there for 2 years, donned my City scarf a lot of the time but had nothing but light-hearted banter.
Last time I went there we drew 2-2 (I think) and it sent them down. Came home in a newly fully air conditioned Connor & Graham coach, ie not a window left in it.
To be fair I've never been to Grimsby or Cleethorpes so what would I know. Almost got sent to Scunthorpe for work once, but they sent me to Bath instead. Bit of a result that!
Last time at Grimsby, before the friendly prior to the 2007/08 season, was a league cup game that ended 1-1, I think. Sure Stan the Man might have scored, but memory isn't what it used to be.
Grimsby , not much to say except it's in Lincolnshire and the Humber has always been a natural divide .I'm sure the people didn't get on too well when it was Northumbria v Mercia
Last time I was at Blunder Park was the night we sent a team for a testimonial match for John McDermott; he was some larker for them, played more than 750 games, we were in for him when we got promoted to the championship but for whatever reason it never happened. We won 1 - 0 courtesy of a Kevin Ellison far post volley, we should have slaughtered them but they were too busy teeing each other up trying to score a worldie; Barmby, Boaz, Damo and a couple of others were stood with the few city fans who were there, t'was a good night with a few quid raised for a proper old school one club player.
Always a tiger and a bit of banter had but not the way some would like to make it out .. suppose it doesn't make a story if they don't make out it was vitriolic
Got Burnsy on Sportstalk, just started on Umberside. Swanny's on too. Just like the good old days. Gollums as slick as ever.
