So not a manager then? He’s a first team coach, not the first team coach at Reading. And you still haven’t addressed the question about French mercenaries yet?
Di Canio - he got his chance with the right team the wrong time. On passion alone he would get us up. I want dirty knees too...
The mood amongst SAFC Fan's in favour of a change of Manager seems to be hardening. This revolving door policy has rarely worked in the past, but I suppose that it must come good at some stage if we continue trying. (Rather like backing your 'blind hand' in a game of brag!!) If this happens can I ask that those agitating for this course of action will tell us, in advance, what they expect as a minimum from the new man, We could keep this simple by asking for a WIN percentage, And just so I'm not called mischevious can I refer you to the current stats, List of Sunderland A.F.C. managers - Wikipedia Going over recent times, say since PDC, the current incumbant is second to Jack Ross, ignoring caetakers, and Mr Ross was sacked because of pressure from Fans too. If they put their reasonable criteria down in advance, whatever it is, it just MIGHT put a brake on some of the constant carping. Personaly I'm convinced that many of our current problems are the result of changing Managers too often.
Show a bit of passion. Don't be afraid to play the youngsters, especially if you promised you would. Don't sit back when a goal up, attack attack attack. Change it about a bit ffs and use substitutes to effect.
I've said for a while, one of the big things we need is a manager with a set of balls. Big hairy balls that he likes to whip out and swing in your face. I'd voted for Keane. Someone who wouldn't want to match Gillingham, set up to counter MK Dons or use his only striker to man mark a Doncaster player. Someone who would be embarrassed that we're even in this league, who would be pissed off with an away draw to a side in the top two. Someone with a personality. Not a repeat of the dour, miserable, hope to go one up then defend managers we've had thus far in this league. So I voted Keane. I'd love Pearson as well, he'd have a similar outlook. I'm not wildly keen on Poyet but I'd definitely take him as well.
I think in this division, a club of SAFC's size should expect a win percentage greater than Parkinson's 35%.
Go along with all that. Poyet I liked, although the possession for me got a bit tedious constant passing about at the back with chance of them stealing the ball etc. That said I thought he was a good coach and got a good return from the players. I'd be chuffed with him back and think he'd have what it takes to get us back to the prem. The position we are in and the way we play doesn't belie the club we are and our budget. Passion and enthusiasm is lacking, Get out there and get at em ffs,
Poyet pissed me off by the end. Was pretty much just sitting there wanting to get sacked. Normally I wouldn't want him back, but at the same time I know we've fallen a long way since so we can't be too picky. Like you say I think he works well with the players, he's managed at this level before, he could get a style implemented, sartori no doubt likes him just because he's Uruguayan, he's said he'd come back. It makes sense and I could see it happening.
He said there was a problem at the club, He wasn't wrong. I forgive him for possibly giving up if he did under the circumstances. So again agree with you and think he may be a better fit now.
