**** that ****! "I'll be content if we get beat by Spurs as long as we beat Wigan"? What the **** are you? A Blackburn fan? We're playing the Spuds at home who haven't won at ours since the dawn of time. We'll give them a sound rogering they deserve and saggy face can **** off home bemoaning "lucky" Toon. They can all **** off back claiming we were lucky as far as I'm concerned as long as we keep getting results.
This negativity **** is what infuriates me! The Toon are the next invincibles!! Unbeaten & conceded least in the league. Those ****s who said we'd be relegated/do **** are eating their words every ****ing week at the moment, so **** them, the whinging ****s who say we're lucky and the ****ing horse they rode in on!

I think we have done really well for a team that, IMHO, will finish mid table. As others have already said, it is important to beat, or at least draw with, those teams around you, which is what we have done. On top of this, someone said in a thread last week that we have picked up a lot more points than from last year's corresponding fixtures. The results against the top 4-5 are not really that important as most teams will lose to them. However, beating the likes of Blackburn, Wolves, Sunderland and Fulham, and picking up a points at Villa and QPR are exactly what we need to be doing.

I hope that the media and other fans continue to call us lucky and underestimate our great start. I am happier for us to fly under the radar than for the so called experts to start bigging us up and raising expectations. (cos you know that they are just waiting and hoping that we hit a bad patch and they can slag us again)

Don't let it get to ya mates, just let the season play out...If we deserve to be around up there we will be... I believe our judgement day should coem after the consecutive matches against the two manchesters and chelsea.

If we haven't been tested in SEVEN Premier League games then that just shows how bad the Premier League is then doesn't it.

I'd agree with people saying we haven't really been tested as to how good this team is. The press are somewhat blowing our run out of proportion. The fixture list has been kind with us. The 3 toughest fixtures we've played were Villa Arsenal and QPR, arguably Villa and Arsenal's form hasn't been great, Villa is picking up. We have won all the matches so far we could have hoped to win, therefore for us, we're doing really well. None of us expects to compete with the big 6/7. But if we can get ourselves right behind them, then I'll be more than delighted. We've been the strongest of the rest of the teams, and i doubt anyone can argue with that. So far enough. I hope we can battle it out with Everton, Villa, Stoke and Arsenal for places 6,7,8 and 9. 9/10th would be fine with me, as long as it's ahead of the mackems.

People are saying this simply because we havent played man u, man city or chelsea...but them three teams will beat just about everyone in the league...

arsenal - arsenal is arsenal, there reserves would give most prem teams a good run and they couldnt score past us

sunderland - a derby game tests any team

ful - just hammered QPR 6-0 and we dominated them

QPR - played them at a time when they had a buzz about them, couldnt score

Villa - were unbeaten when we played them and still have some quality players

blackburn - ok they can have that one

wolves - played them on the back of a few defeats so they were right up for it and we killed them first half, they only played last 20....

we have something like 4 players in the top 20 players in the league or something so whats that tell you..

So yes we really have been tested......hope we get something at spurs to shut people up....

    I do, why not?

We've got better players than some of those teams, yes we have a smaller squad perhaps but not by much. Yeah we didn't spend £20M on Jordan Henderson, £10M on Charlie Adam, we don't have a striker who refuses to come off the bench, or spent £50M on striker who's short of form & out of confidence but maybe our happy group of lads may just be better than them and upset the apple cart this season. I've seen nothing so far to suggest why they can't.

Well, they have a point to a degree.

We were lucky to get a point at QPR and all 3 at wolves. So say we have 3 "good luck" points.

We also haven't played any of the clubs I'd expect to finish in the top 6.

So what does all that mean ? We're probably not going to finish 4th. What else does it mean ? **** all

  13. How were we lucky to get a point vs QPR?

We didn't get lucky, our last ditch defending saved us, but that's good defending not luck. We may not have deserved a point, but good teams get points when they're getting raped. Manure do it often enough, and get praised for it.

Our only lucky points so far have been against Wolves, and that's because were got the benefit of the doubt and their goal was disallowed, but i think it would have been a bit unfair if it was allowed also.

We got away with the pen incident, it was a stone wall pen, but that doesn't mean it was a definite goal though. More pens have been saved, not scored so far this season.

Even though we were lucky to escape with 3 points, i think we were the better team at Wolves.

Must admit I thought we were lucky. Normally when you get outplayed like that you'll get beat. Fortunately for us they have Jay Bothroyd!

We were lucky to get the point against QPR becasue they had several clear chances to score and missed. We didn't stop the shots, they just fluffed their lines. Good luck.

I also thought we were the better team agaisnt Wolves. We switched off too early and should have dropped two points as a result. We didn't. Good luck.

  18. That's not luck, they didn't take their chances. You could argue that Wolves were lucky not to be 4-0 down at half time, but it's not their fault if we didn't score more of our chances.

Stevie Taylor made an excellent goal line clearance vs QPR, Simmo also made a goal clearance. SWP had a free header on goal, but we all know he's not that great in the air. He didn't score, not our fault.

    We weren't lucky.

People seem to discount the defence. At the end of the day, even if the opposite team has 500 shots on goal, if the keeper saves them all then yes, that's lucky, but it's also because you have that keeper. Same goes for defenders or anyone else on the pitch.

They are part of the team and if you are stronger on an area of the pitch than the opposition, then that's not luck, that's skill. Just because it's defence doesn't matter, it's still that skill that gets you the game. If opposition strikers fail to find the target at all that's either that they are not up to scratch, or simply off-form. That's not luck either, that's a lack of consistency, which is common.

As already said, the only luck involved is the ref's decisions, which in the last few years have been exceptionally poor for us, so a bit of luck once or twice (last season) a season is welcome. Certainly still more against us in the last few years.

Anyway, I'm going to get a can of pop lol
