its called ""profiteering"" and it may get to be the morm at other clubs if the tigers stay at the top of the league. and coming so close after the forest away game and with it being a tuesday night, barnsley may just regret that adult price.
1) see THETIGERSHULL original answer above 2) if at all possible, avoid Tiger Travel like the plague. The service is based on the preferences of a few supporters who see the away match experience almost as a process of getting onto a bus, sitting quietly and pleasantly on said bus and enjoying the ride, getting off bus next to the ground, going into the ground and quietly and pleasantly till the ref blows the final whistle, (special dispensation can be given if you can afford a half time pie), getting on the bus once again and sitting qietly and pleasantly to enjoy the ride, eventually getting off in South Stand car park. My advise would be to travel independently to make the best out of your experience. 3) By taking the advice set out in 2) above, you will soon prefer the away match experience much more than the Cooperian Morgue equivalent. Although it will cost you alot more!!!!!!
maybe hull city fans should ""boycott"" this fixture en-mass. i think barnsley will pay the price this time. as for me i will simply take my own pies and drink with me and just purchase a programme. cheaper really.
out of interest, why do you feel you need a programme when the information on Hull City will be almost identical to that from the previous away match. if you just want a souvenir, then isnt your ticket stub enough?
you know i ask myself that all the time. but its just something that i must always have, the match programme. always have done way back when they cost just 3D(old money). i can forsake the pies - burgers etc and take my own. but the programme is something that i just cannot do without.
Just rank bad marketing IMO - £20 should be the most an adult should have to pay for a ticket in the NPC particularly in these difficult economic times. Need to take a leaf out of the Bundesliga Clubs pricing policy where few tickets cost more than 20euro - as a result they have average attendances above those in the PL even allowing for the fact that the Germans are wealthier than us. One only has to look at the average attendances this season in the NPC - Derbys are top but even theirs are down to 24415 from a figure around the 27000 mark last season. City's recent offer of a free ticket to the Pompey game if you bought one for ther Reading game is a excellent way of bringing in support. I bought tickets for my two daughters on this basis and they now want to go to all the matches. I am a season ticket holder BTW and don't mind such a deal being offered if it swells the Club's coffers.
if barnsley were to drop there away price to say £20 then i think the whole away end would be full. surely its better to have many paying less than a few paying more ? after all, its not as though barnsleys wage bill will be that high either. or is the extra to pay for last seasons damage to that local club ? hhmmmm
All very well if you drive, which I do, but many dont so how else would you expect fans to get to away games without Tigers Travel?
Someone has to take a lead in this I believe. Its a vicious circle - dwindling numbers compensated by increased prices. Possibly in the short term there may be a loss of revenue but should benefit in the long run. Haven't Hartepool not to mention Bratfud reduced their match day ticket and season pass prices and seen a big increase in attendances particluarly the Monkey Hangers who have traditionally been the poorest supported club in their division?
fair point well made. well i know someone who has his own coach company and with the right numbers could start up an independant away travel group. we did it in the 80's when the same group of 40 travelled away. same people and same driver who knew where to go for the best pubs and grub.
Hartlepool did an offer on season tickets (£100) and the number of people buying them nearly trebled from the previous season.
I can't drive so rely on someone else driving or Tiger Travel. Whilst I may sit quietly on the coach, I certainly don't when I get to the games! TT was ideal in the Premier League as it saved the hassle of trying to park and get to grounds with crowd sizes far in excess of what we were used to - to say nothing of traffic "lock downs" an hour before kick off! However, it does have it's bad points - including ludicrously early set off times for local derbies. Continuing the Barnsley thread, I went two years on the trot with TT. Setting off at 4.30pm for an evening kick off on both occasions, the first year we arrived at 5.30 and the second, we were kept waiting on the hard shoulder for over an hour resulting in us legging it to the ground with 5 minutes to spare!
lol. no chance. i remember 2 trips with that man and never again. jeez, what a mistaker-2-maker. no this guy runs proper trips for all age groups and so forth. his coaches are also road worthy.
I don't get whats so bad being quiet on the coach i would like that on the way back i will be tired so....
