The super carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth, is set to be sent out to the South China Sea next year.
This is believed to be in response to the rising tensions caused by Beijing clamping down on democracy and free speech in Hong Kong.
Not sure what the aim is, (political posturing that appeals to the readers of the right wing media is my guess) as it is said that owing to delays in ordering, instead of having 36 war planes on board, it will have just 16 - and 8 of those belong to the US Marine Corp.
Former First Sea Admiral Lord West says that “The likelihood of war is far greater now”.
I hope he is over reacting and is using this way of speech as a means to pressure the government into getting more planes built, in order to get the ship up to the correct number it was designed for, but I think this government has enough on it’s plate without it trying to create a “patriotic” distraction.

Should probably send it to Boston harbour

Reactions: Lemons and Oranges
I actually want to see no deal now. That may sound counter intuitive and perverse even but at least it will ensure that the blame gets placed where it should be, at the door of Pfeffel and the loony LeaveEU cabal.

That’s not where the blame will be placed. Foreigners, remoaners, lefties and poor people will get the blame. As always.

Unfortunately I think a very significant number would blame the EU for the consequences. No doubt aided by the usual press.

Pfeffel's base us around 35%. That is how many will slavishly follow the Brexit line. With a resurgent Labour Party that is certainly not enough to win a majority. Then the Tories best bet will be to ditch Scotland. On that subject Berlin has assured the SNP that they would be welcome in the EU.

Oh goody. Another border to cross. :emoticon-0127-lipss

I suspect this has always been the plan since this bunch took over the Tory Party. Get rid of Scotland and Northern Ireland, and the English National Party (rebranded Conservative and Unionist Party) will rule England forever.

Spaffer replaced by slimy Sunak, et tu brute.

This isn’t the way to reward hard work and dedication. :emoticon-0121-angry

The Telegraph was reporting a Downing Street source this morning that Boris would be gone within the year. With Cummings gone, attention will no divert to how much influence Boris's girlfriend has. I am not convinced that Boris will survive the next 12 months and remain convinced that Javid will eventually out him. It is quite revealing how Javid has retreated in to the background so as not to be associated with the Boris and his cronies.

The problem for me is that I am not convinced that Starmer is the answer. He has performed poorly since his election and his actions against the Left have alienated a lot of the core membership. The e-mails I have received from the few fellow Labour Party members I sometimes speak to is suggestive that there is a similar battle going on within Labour to try to reclaim the Party's soul.

Javid not Sunak the bookies choice?

If the Tories have any sense they won’t let Johnson go until the worst of the pandemic and Brexit fallout is over.
Pushing him out too soon risks his replacement being dragged down by the above, and becoming tainted.
Let him go on for too long, creating more disasters, and they have less time to rewrite history before the next election.

Maybe bring Corbyn back. I'm sure he could get Labour down to 100 next time.

Saw that. Disgusting. Forget football loyalties, MR is someone all of us would be proud to have as a son.
I would have thought, given Marcus’s income as a PL player, investing in bricks and mortar is one of the more sensible things he could use his money for. Would the Fail rather he throw it all away on parties, booze, and women like another Man Utd hero of former times?

That young man is a credit to his family, his generation, and the city of Manchester. (I nearly said his club, but couldn’t bring myself to do that).

The Mail, on the other hand, is a disgrace to our country and it’s supposedly tolerant values.
