    Mrs EJK used to visit his stables as a little girl. Got a photo somewhere of her and her sister wearing some racing silks from his stables.

    As a kid I couldn't tell him and bob monkhouse apart.

    No idea what I was watching either of them in but always thought they were incredibly likeable.

    He didn't have the ego of the likes of Bruce Forsyth and didn't mind himself being at the receiving end of jokes. I think this more than anything endeared him to me.. R.I.P.

    Just read his BBC story. Turns out he wrote the jokes for them. Bit of self publicity there.

    I bought one of his records from boots the chemist, at the poison counter ! brilliant entertainer up there with Brucey, bob monkhouse etc.
