First game Dec 1 1962 a day before my 10th birthday. Friend of mine took me - remember next to nothing of the game against Port Vale other than we lost 1-0 and it p*ssed down all game. Wasn't a supporter then and BP seemed a million miles away from my house on Bilton Grange. First proper match was against Chelsea March 31 1966 FA Cup 6th Round Replay. Went to Riley High School and we were allowed to leave early at 3.30pm to go to the game - remarkably not made all ticket. Queued for hours before getting into the ground. Watched the game sat on forms around the track on east stand side (which were brought in from local schools to ease the crush on us youngsters) The Club reduced the capacity to 42000 after that game. Watched all the remaining home games that iconic promotion season but didn't really start going again for another three years.
first match i remember is sheff wed home 4-4 1970.But went earlier than that but the joys of drinking have deprived me of alot of brain cells.Since taken both daughters the eldest saw sense and didnt get the bug(her words) the youngest did 7 years as a pass holder but then make up , boys and drinking persuaded her to give it up leaving me as our families only representive after losing my father 2009 but he saw the premiership and wembley before he went
Either 1977 or 1978 . 5 or 6 years old . Blackpool . 0-0 . Went by train . Nearly froze to death . The only thing I can recall is being exited about seeing the 'tangerine team '. They played in all white and I was not amused .
I first went when I was about 3 or 4 in 93/94. No idea what game though. I can remember the whole Fish Out period shortly after and because I was so young and the entire BP crowd would sing the chant so aggressively and loudly it would make me cry. That's probably my earliest memory along with being amazed at how green and bright the BP pitch looked like under the floodlights.
I was 9 when I went to Fer Ark for the first time, saw us beat Leyton Orient 3-2 in 1996/97 (I think...). Oddly, didn't get to the KC until the 3-2 win over Doncaster the first season. (think that was the score, Aaron Wilbraham, Jason Price and somebody else)
I can remember going to City v Stoke, FA Cup1971. It wasn't my first game but my mum was given two great seats and refused to give them to me and my dad. I also went to a couple of mid week games around the same time against Liverpool and Man U and leaving school early to watch them. I seem to remember them both being shown live on Yorkshire TV. Also can someone tell me why Ian McKechnie had shed loads of tangerines thrown at him each game. Fer Ark 1975 as a 10 year old wanted to go from 8 but my dad kept saying wait till your 10 loved it .
I was 10, it was during the 92/93 season, we played Udds at BP and Neil Mann scored the winner direct from a corner in the last minute. It was the second half of that season and I went 2 or 3 more times that year, then got a season ticket for the start of the 93/94 season and have had one ever since.
I was 8 in 1964 , dad took me to BP , sat in the west stand. Can't remember much about it . First game I do remember was a 4-0 win at home v Mansfield sometime in the 60s I think
My first game was Hull City versus Barnet at Boothferry I think it was 1999, I would have been ten at the time and went with a Plymouth supporter. Been a season ticket holder since I could afford it, so about six years.
I was about 7 or 8. It was at Boothferry Park against Man Utd Reserves and Bryan Robson was playing for Man utd, think it finished 3-1 to Man Utd.
I'm amazed that some of you were 3, 4 or 5 when you first went to a game. My eldest is just about to turn 5 and wants me to take him to a match but he cant even sit still for a 5 minute cartoon so there is no way he would sit still for 90 odd minutes (unless the tigers changed the black and amber to a spiderman kit - he may sit still then!!)
