It never ceases to amaze me how many players that were crap here go on to be good elsewhere.. The fact our entire side is getting worse and all are playing badly tells me why
He wasn't though, he looked good whenever he played for us, skilful and got goals as well. We just never played him.
He was though. Must've been otherwise our illustrious manager would have picked him. However, he's constantly loaned out. Only highlight was this goal.
Used badly and never wanted to he here... Nobody would want to play attack vs defend if it was avoidable a
Whenever he played he did well, not really a sign of someone who didn't want to be here, even said the reason he didn't wanna stay for another season here was cos he wasn't getting the game time. I don't think Steve Bruce's genius team selection prove that he wasn't good enough.
Of course he did he's one of these managers that wants to reinvent every player then wonders why it doesn't work
I thought he looked half decent. We didn't see a lot of him and he was a bit bi polar. He went from looking good, to looking a bit ****. He seemed to have a tidy touch, and decent all round grounding in the game. To be fair to him, you'd need to see a lot more of him to judge it really. I think the fee was 20m to make it permanent and I wouldn't have paid that based on what we saw. I saw the overhead but its not a reason to say he could be one that got away. Equally though I wouldn't write him off as **** based on a handful of appearances on loan. He's only 24, he has time.
I just do t think he got a decent chance and I don’t think Bruce is that good of a man manager. Bentaleb is a similar sort of player. Looked crap for most of his time with us. But his strengths are not at sitting back deep and soaking up pressure. It’s just bad man management. There’s not one player who you could say Bruce has turned into a good player since he’s been here.
Well he gave Matty Longstaff his first chance and he looked incredible to start with.. .. then he suddenly goes to ****. Same with his brother who went from awesome to regularly being crap. I would say Joelinton has improved under Bruce. ... but when you start out playing like he did, it's not hard to improve, if you're rock bottom it is impossible to get any worse! Everyone else seems to have got considerably worse, the likes of Schar and even ASM is starting to look patchy these days.
I think ASM is getting doubled up on a lot and its easier for oppo to just foul him put the game. He was playing a fairly isolated role anyway, just Wilson for support when on a run. With Almiron and Fraser in there as options, we could be making use of the space created by that. But it's Bruce so, until he's really in the ****, we'll continue to see Almiron playing like a defensive mid and all attacking hopes getting pinned on ASM. You could even play Slongstaff higher instead of Shelvey playing closer to our goal than the ****ing centre circle. I think Bruce's motto is: if it ain't broke don't fix it, and if it is just leave it a few games and see if it magically starts working again.
For Lozaro, was literally never given a decent chance. To say he was constantly coming on as a sub he actually looked pretty good but, you know, he's not English so that already reduced his chances. Feels like it was a signing Nickson pushed for and Bruce didn't want.
