We just defended a corner so he switched sides. on that note it makes me laugh how every time that happens (and must be about 5 times a game for a year) the commentators go, oh looks like TAA abs Robbo have switched sides I wonder if this is a tactical switch
It's funny how they have all the stats to hand - can tell you who had their socks rolled down in what game 26 years ago, but don't appear to understand what's going on in the game they're watching. I've moaned a few times on here about commentators nattering amongst themselves for minutes on end and not doing a commentary. It's a bit like radio DJs hired for their ability to talk without pausing for breath rather than their knowledge of music.
Not just saying this now, but I've always believed that if a player gets injured on international duty when the window is closed, there should be dispensation. Before anyone jumps in - no, not now. But from next season, so all are starting on a clean sheet, that is what should happen. And Southgate should get a hefty kick in the bollocks.
Lot's of posters on here seem to think Matip is injury-prone. I wonder why? I it because his usual position is left back..... in the dressing room on the treatment table?
I think all internationals should be in a block at the end of the season with all the int breaks filled with league and cup games - then if they get injured they only generally miss the int games unless very serious and then it cant really be helped
We walked the league last season, this is our way of giving the rest a chance without embarrassing them too much...
It's frustrating, but I'm just being philosophical about it. I've said often how singularly unimpressed I am with internationals, but no use fretting over something you've no control over. I suppose.
We are 8 games into the league so far and after these rounds of internationals England will have played 8 games also and got absolutely nothing from it. As many pointless international friendly games as we have premier League games, all whilst in the middle of a pandemic.
So Ake has also gone off injured for the Netherlands. Another player injured due to international breaks Yet more proof that Football is trying to jam too many games into the season. Why the hell are international games even being played this season, aside from all the travel thats required for a sizeable groups of people, we're also now seeing what happens when you expect players to play and train non-stop.
the funny thing is they’re playing 3 games in the break as well. Crammed in an extra game compared to normal... Dno what brain box came up with that idea.
I would like to see Clubs starting to refuse to release the players. Its costing clubs money to have these players sat on the bench injured or just knackered. I mean the clubs are who the players are contracted to, not the nations
Under FIFA regs they would just ban the player for a period and i assume lots of players would just refuse and go anyway .
Joe Gomez has undergone successful surgery to repair a tendon in his left knee. No ligament damage was found. A lengthy rehabilitation is expected. #LFC have no timeframe for a return but are not ruling the defender out for the season
Sounds like if be is back will be towards end of the season though. Best hope Fabinho and Thiago recover quickly to bulk up the centre of the pitch
