It appears that Mr Clarke was a little bit naughtier than I first heard . It's a U turn from me , he deserved to go .
“Following a telephone call this morning between the UEFA President and Greg Clarke, they agreed with Greg Clarke’s proposal that he should step down with immediate effect from his position as a UEFA representative on the FIFA Council.” - UEFA statement
Originally UEFA wanted him to stop on with them to maintain their voting power within FIFA and didn't agree he should step down. Unbelievable.
I have always felt that Clarke was a bit of a dinosaur and I just feel what he has said must be worse than just referring to someone as being coloured. Maybe what he said was worse, but have released the less offensive part of what he said if he agreed to steps down, in order to save him embarrassment as well as the FA? They really do need to appoint someone younger and more in touch with the current climate, but someone that will uphold the traditions of the whole football league. Liam Rossenior would do a great job IMO.
They haven't just released something he said. It was in front of a Select Committee and fully reported and minuted.
The women’s football chief Baroness Sue Campbell has emerged as a leading contender to succeed Greg Clarke (The Times).
She is 72. Obviously going for youth. Hasn't done bad for a PE teacher. Someone must rate her, CBE, made a Dame. Involved with football for a whole 3 years or so. "Campbell has received the following Honorary academic degrees: Hon Doctorate of Education from the Council for National Academic Awards 1992, Hon Doctorate of Science from the University of Brighton 1993, Hon Doctorate of Education from De Montfort University 1996, Hon Doctorate of Technology from the University of Loughborough 1997, Hon Doctorate of Education from the University of Leicester 2000, Hon Doctorate of Sport Science from the Leeds Metropolitan University 2006, Hon Doctorate of Law from the University of Exeter 2010, Hon Doctor of Humane Letters Endicott College Boston USA 2011, Hon Doctorate of Art from the Bedfordfordshire University 2011, Hon Doctorate for Exceptional Service to Sport from the Queen's University 2013, Hon Degree of Science from the Nottingham Trent University 2016."
Hmmmm, I know someone else with an honorary academic degree who is in football and he is old as well.
Does she? Looks like an administrator whos worked her way up. If she was male with that CV theyd be calling **** out of another chinless wonder.
I wonder what they would say if a 72 year old male with no experience of women's football was put in charge of their game?
Hopefully she will not a be greedy, money-grabbing, plastic-favouring **** like most of the rest of the big-hitters who have leeched onto our game.
Seems that one is a no go - "At 72, Baroness Sue Campbell is over the FA Council’s age limit for the position, which they refused to lift to permit David Bernstein to stay on seven years ago".
