It was suggested on TV this morning that Gary Lineker would be an ideal replacement for Clarke as he is universally liked. Now, that is being out of touch.
I don’t think some posters realise it’s the thin end of the wedge. Wait til the twatterati start combing throu every aspect of people’s lives. I distinctly remember a lot of posters on here thought it hilarious when the reasons came out why marlon king took such offence to windass’ hilarious joke!! The offended are out to take peoples jobs and livelihoods and don’t think it will be just people with some sort of fame .
Did you ever watch W1 A, the comedy about the right on goings on at the BBC? There was a roomful of the usual metropolitan types spouting cliche ridden jargon and buzz words and one blunt Northerner.. Up came the latest initiative to increase diversity to reflect the diversity of the population. As they waffled the blunt Northerner spoke up to say that he had done a quick calculation and if they were to represent the diversity of the population they would have to get rid of a lot of non white presenters. Oh no, he was told, that isn't how these things work...
He has previous, this is from his last appearance in front of parliament three years ago... please log in to view this image
The biggest reason Clarke should be out of the game is that he was allegedly a driving force behind the project to give more power to the supposed Big Six. Of the Big Six one is currently 10th, one 11th and the other 14th.
Good article by David Conn showing why Clarke, leaving aside anything else, is not a fit person to be in charge. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...uthority-to-lead-football-project-big-picture
I suspect that added to the pressure on him internally anyway. He said in his statement that he'd be wanting to stand down for a while. I imagine the FA is breathing a sigh of relief to be honest.
