Mrs SM is seeing a dramatic improvement in the last three weeks, since starting on the iron suppliments and after reading online a recommendation from a consultant about the benefits of taking anti-histimine (cetirizine?) 10mg daily. Long-Covid seems to cause mast cell activation and histimine response, and tee anti-histimine seems to appear to be helping negate the effects of this.
Just got back from a good walk on the Heath. It is indeed busy, maybe busier than I’ve ever seen it, which delighted me. Great to see so many people getting out into the beautiful warm November sun, exercising, relaxing on the grass and seemingly feeling good, almost normal. The place is nearly a thousand acres and was more than able to handle the amount of people present.
We've just been for a walk around our local park - whilst not quite picnic weather, it is a beautiful autumn day with a wee nip in the air. The park was heaving, especially the two play areas for the kids, but not that busy that you couldn't enjoy a walk. However, there were some really large groups, far bigger than the "Rule of Six"
Have had to cancel the order for the new Mink coat I'd just bought - it's had to quarantine for 14 days Seriously though, seems that the virus has mutated in minks, and then passed on to humans. please log in to view this image A mutated strain of coronavirus that has spread to humans has triggered culls of millions of mink across Denmark and a lockdown in some parts of the country. More than 200 people have been infected with strains related to mink, according to reports. Mink kept in large numbers on farms have caught the virus from infected workers. And, in a small number of cases, the virus has crossed back from mink to humans, picking up genetic changes on the way. Mutations in some of the strains, which have infected a small number of people, are reported to involve the spike protein of the virus, which is targeted by some, but not all, vaccines being developed. The coronavirus, like all viruses, mutates over time, but there is no evidence that any of the mutations pose an increased danger to people
Wife has decided to give up booze for the duration of this lockdown. I think I will end up increasing my intake to compensate. Yin and yang etc
Must admit I'm not clear on the meeting outside rules, I thought rule of 6 was gone and you could only meet 1 other person. Clearly a lot of folk no longer give a ****
I’m not sure that’s entirely fair. If people are having close contact with a large group indoors then they’re taking the piss and being irresponsible. If they’re sitting around in a park or a garden, with a few months of **** weather forcing us indoors on the way, then it’s not a disaster IMO. The same people could potter around a garden centre.
Kate Bingham, Tory MP wife and life sciences venture capitalist, also a civil servant as our Vaccine Tsar, digs an ever deeper pit for herself. Not content with sharing the government’s (confidential) vaccine strategy with a bunch of international venture capitalists in a $200 a head video conference, forgetting to disclose that her company advises two of the vaccine manufacturers on investments, getting herself booked to speak at another international video conference next year (much more expensive to attend, nearly £2k!) on the same subject, she has so far spent £670,000 of taxpayers money on a PR consultancy. Unlike Dido, Bingham might actually be vaguely competent, but nevertheless she is a prime example of the crony state we have ended up with. They, and the Tory ministers who appointed them, will of course get away with it. We are too exhausted with now years of **** to give a toss any more. In other news, confirmed that the seven Nightingale Hospitals will never open fully because there aren’t enough staff to allow that. Who advised the government on this one? It was plainly obvious that the staff to manage thousands of brand new beds would not appear out of thin air, they could only be found by taking capacity out of other bits of the system. Of course they could open, almost as a hotel facility for the sick, with no promise of treatment, but to keep them out of the real hospitals. Which might be a good PR move. I’ll send my invoice in now.
Don't forget to remove the performance related penalties from any contract you have with them first. Any chance of adding on a few mill to share with those of us on this board who have "advised" you over the years!
Same in both parks I normally go to. Yesterday there was a queue to get in the car park at Crystal Palace Park and huge queues at the park cafe. Today it was even more rammed at Kelsey Park in Beckenham with similar long queues at their cafe. I suppose with much shorter daylight hours that will be the norm at weekends...
The problem is, the same as with beaches in the summer, whilst being outside reduces the chances of infection etc these places get too busy, thus creating a bigger risk. If it could be guaranteed that only a certain number will be in a park, then it wouldn't be a problem, but when so many have the same idea it leads to increased risk. I completely understand people stuck in little flats etc need to get out, but does anyone really need to have a picnic in November or visit a cafe?
Not so busy at our park today - but it's dreich out there! We still managed a few circuits though, Mrs has the heart monitor on so wants to give them some data to work with!
Many are deliberately ignoring the lockdown rules... And some just don't give a f*ck about any but themselves...
This behaviour really ****s me off, we are collectively such a selfish and inconsiderate nation. Where I live the case numbers have been very low all throughout the pandemic and despite this we've abided by the rules, so it makes it all the more galling that we are in this lockdown (of sorts) and yet still seeing scenes like this in areas with significantly higher infection rates. I think the regional approach made sense but we seem too thick to understand it unless it applies nationwide and then we see these ****ers not giving a **** anyway.
Can’t believe the pictures of these idiots, well probably can & don’t they understand the rules! Won’t have my sympathy if they catch the virus!
