Timing wise as long as this goes before the middle of December I would be happy as it means we should be in decent shape to do something in the January transfer window. Hopefully move Graham and Grigg onto to somewhere else, anywhere, a free transfer and pay their contracts up and then get two better strikers to see us home. If we need to trim the squad in other areas to free up wages it would be worth doing.
And that’s exactly the double standards I mean. He gets paid to say offensive things and nobody does anything. You or I come out with less than one per cent of what he says and all sorts of people would be frothing at the mouth to tell us how offensive we’ve been. In fact in my case I’d be out of a job.
Genuine question, why would player and staff contracts delay a takeover announcement? We cant do anything really on player contracts until we know what league we are in next season so it makes me doubt the reliability of the information that its cited as a factor in the formalisation of the deal
What's this Red Bull crack folks? is it a bit like "Robbie Keane will sign for us at some point" back in the day? That was rehashed once a year aswell. ps I haven't had chance to read the full thread so not sure if it has weight this time like.
Its because they once suggested we would be the type of club they would invest in if they picked a club in england
I've no more idea than you but, if it's the manager and coaches, it would make a big difference. We also have situations with players like McGeady. I'm not sure if the likes of Cattermole, Honeyman, Watmore are due anything. Like I say I've no idea and I don't have much info except what I've posted.
Fair enough. Cattermole is still getting a wage till the end of this season. McGeady's deal is up in the summer after spreading his wage over two years. Watmore left at the end of his contract so wont be owed anything and Honeyman jumped up to the Championship so I cant imagine any money owed there.
As I say mate it's 99% guesswork based on a brief comment about 'admin issues dragging things out'. If I wanted to act the Big ITK I could very easily research those players, Parkinson, coaches contracts and post it all as fact. The only fact is that I don't know tbh, nor do I have the time or inclination to find out. But if, as an example, they're wanting Parkinson and his staff out that's a big consideration. If we were to poach a manager and coaches, from another club, that's another big chunk of money. It's OK for people to say 'what's another million' but if it comes off the transfer budget they wouldn't be happy. The club needs that money spending on going forward ... ... not eternally clearing up the messes of the past.
Staff contracts doesn't just mean the manager and his coaching team, it can also mean academy staff, scouts, office and admin staff, board members, medical staff... Same applies to players, not just first team but the academy squads as well. If its a root and branch overhaul they may be looking at tying down better prospects unlike we've been through recently, bringing in other coaches and scouts but having to release some to make way for new guys, seeing if it's worth breaking some contracts (including commercial ones) early to get new contracts in place. My experience is that these can often drag things out, even though they may seem minor, until a workable and agreeable solution is made. Fingers crossed its soon and we can move on.
You'd hope that anyone buying the club will go through absolutely everything. The last thing we need is big words then 'oops we didn't realise some doctor is suing us for £10m so there's nowt left to bring in players'. I'd rather it took longer if we get off to a whole new start ... ... one of the reasons I want the current lot gone completely.
Wonder if some of the contract stuff could be players from Premier League that we maybe paying off termination payments over a period of time.
I think Mike Ashley alerted people to some of the hidden pitfalls when he bought NUFC ... ... they had long hidden contracts for warehouses the Halls had used for storing their bags of gold and Geordie Nation membership cards
