The Derby takeover price is apparently £60 million. How does that work if the stadium valuation was £80 million? Am I being thick?
Unless it's one out of the Bates manual where they think the ground is included, but it ain't. That'll cost them another £80m, or they can rent it for £5m+ per year. I'd love it!
I don’t know the facts. But it’s perfectly possible. for example, they could own an £80m stadium but could have borrowed £60m (say) to buy it. The net value is £20m plus other parts of the club.
Think I've been barking up the wrong tree. I thought that Direby had sold the ground to the owner, but that was somewhere else, wasn't it? In this case, if I recall correctly, they simply revalued the stadium to avoid a FFP failure. Apols if I misled (and apols again if I've misled here too! ).
Mel Morris sold the ground he owned to another Mel Morris company and somehow managed to get away with it, maybe because Derby have a EFL Board member? They should have had points deductions but got a slap on the wrist. WJ is correct however about bates selling Chelsea but not the ground as he had sold the ground to another bates company called Chelsea Athletic and the Russians had to spend another £20m to get it. Dierby are cooking the books again
Aug 25 (Reuters) - Derby County have avoided a possible points deduction and fine after being cleared of breaching the English Football League’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules by an independent disciplinary commission, the Championship club said on Tuesday. The EFL had charged second-tier Derby with violating its profit and sustainability rules in January. The first charge related to the sale of their Pride Park Stadium to owner Mel Morris in June 2018, which helped the club post a profit for the 2017-18 season and comply with EFL rules prohibiting teams from losing 39 million pounds ($51 million) over a three-year period. Derby were also charged with breaches of EFL rules regarding the valuation of players. "Charge one was dismissed. Charge two was also dismissed, save for, the commission found the wording of the amortisation policy in its financial statements could have been clearer," Derby County said on its club website here. “Derby County is delighted at the outcome and will, at this stage, not make any further comment relating to the matter.” The EFL said it had taken note of the disciplinary commission’s decision and would consider the judgement in full.
Anyone remember that bent twat who used to be our CeO twice. The same twat that took football clubs into administration 3 times and ended up as boss of the EFL. Yes Harvey we know you. Anyone like to guess why he left the EFL in such a hurry? Well it was because Morris at Derby has a letter from Harvey saying the sale of the ground will be ok. Yes he was wrong and thats why Derby got off and thats why £5m pay out to Harvey. Bent as fk
