There have been lots of touching moments among all of this for me, but by far the most touching moment was reading the comment on the appeal page by 'Bill and Judith Gates'. Have a look...
Johnny Eyre got £260 for the Kante shirt. Edit: Scrub that, he’s decided to keep the bidding open for another 24 hours.
Jeff Stelling has paid credit to Chris Chilton during Soccer Saturday and appealed for people to donate to the GoFundMe. Fair play to him.
The Guardian - who have been covering the subject of dementia in footballers for a long time now - have an article about Chillo: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ing-enough-to-help-chris-chilton-gary-chilton
This article chokes me. I know I've said this before on here, but **** it, I'll say it again. It was the first game at the KC, we were playing Sunlan and me and dad had a couple of seats in the Upper W. Now I don't ever ever! get overawed by meeting a famous person, even my musical heroes like Weller or Joe Strummer, Wilko. But when I saw Chillo on the concourse that day, I was kind of gobsmacked. I froze! Chris clearly knew this and just said 'Hi'. I couldn't even speak, never mind ask for an autograph.
My lad was one of the mascots for that match, Chillo, Duffield and Alexander amongst others all went out their way to make sure my lad had a great time. My lad knew the two strikers who played at the time, as for Chillo he left a lasting impression on a young lad!
There will be a feature on the Chris Chilton appeal on Calendar tonight, featuring Ken and Francesca Wagstaff.
It's the local televised news in Yorkshire. I haven't lived in Yorkshire for a while, but I'd imagine it's on at 6.30 on YTV tonight.
