Think some people might be surprised at the ethnic make up of many of those who are on the radar of the likes of PREVENT etc
I'm a lefty, but I tend to agree. If they have shown that they want to harm us then get them off the streets.
This country went fcuking mental ages ago, fcuking jihadis all over the place wanting to commit as much harm as possible. Meanwhile the likes of that fcuking idiot Corbyn wanting to charge soldiers for soldering the provinces fifty odd years ago.
And now in France, we see Macron, demanding drastic overhaul of the Shengen agreement, as he watches the stampede of horses bolt away through the wide open stable door. Well, it's only took around 270 deaths at the hands of Islamic terrorists ( how mis-understood they are!), on French soil in the last five years or so to make him see what was obvious to many for years. Or, is there a Presidential election next year? Of course the implications of his remarks are obvious; you cant have a country without borders, but you cant have a country with Shangen. He is right, but he doesn't mean a word of it. He is keeping Le Pen at arms length. He is lucky he is fighting the wrong woman with that name.
Some thoughts on terrorism. I worked in Westminster for 20+ years. During the IRA bombing campaign. During the state opening of Parliament I had to vacate my office as a gentlemen dressed in black with a mask and a big gun sat on the window sill, staring outside. Quite often the tube i took to work was stopped cos of bomb scares. It was infuriating that parking in Whitehall was stopped on Saturday nights, ie night out in the West End, for security reasons. I did hear a couple of bangs! There were lots of reasons to hate the IRA, but generally all catholics were not tarred with the same brush. Indeed during one of the periods, following a car bomb in Parliament killing an MP, i had sone Irish lads building an extension of my house. These lads were catholics and hated the IRA even more than I did, partly cos they became subjects of abuse. Now i am back in my beloved NE, I do not have that many Muslim friends, but i bet that 99.9% of muslims hate the extremists and their evil actions. That all sounds wishy washy liberal... However, I reckon a decision has to be made about the law, civil liberties and funding for MI5 etc. Many of the evil bastards who commit these act of atrocities, are all ready on the authorities radar. Now because of current civil liberty law, what surveillance, both electronic and physical (camera/video) is allowed is not imho fit for purpose. This needs to be changed so it is easier to order surveillance of individuals (plus tagging if appropriate) and more resources have to be devoted to it. Currently there any not enough bodies to cover all those people of interest.
Good post, this is not a new problem at all, ( ask the Romans!) Terrorism seems to be an intractable problem mostly I think because it has had some success down the decades. Millenia really if you look at it. Some of this it is possible to understand, particularly when obviously put upon, indigent and oppressed people have been exploited in their own countries, but the terrorism we mostly see now is not driven by a need for representation or some new deal, it is driven by a fierce and blinkered pre - medieval ideology . Only a hopeless bigot would say that all Muslims are terrorists, it is an insane notion, but it would take a wilfully blinkered individual not to see that most terrorists are now Muslim, or at least purport to be.
