2 attempts on target and 1 off target in the first half at home to a team who havd only won once this season is poor by any standards...and we have our customary poor second half to come.
It says it all we introduced the inverse wingers after that, which is wrong for three reasons 1.) Two previous managers tried for inverted wingers and both were sacked within six months due to the results nosediving 2.) If we had Lamela on the bench for that match and brought him on, we'd have most likely got the three points - but he wasn't in the squad, which was a baffling choice as a game against the Spammers is made for the Lord of the ****ehouse, so we couldn't shore up that flank 3.) The main takeaway of that match is we forgot our tactical plan: since last season's restart our setup has had the wingers pressing high to force players inside into a low block, yet in that game our right flank was being overrun which makes it clear that neither Bergwijn nor Bale was pressing (which is all Winks' fault, of course...)
1-0 HT. A half of two halves. Started well, took the lead and then decided that we didn't fancy any more of that possession stuff. Shocking last twenty minutes or so. Nowhere near good enough.
Spurs done their best that half to make us fall asleep for the inevitable collapse in the second half. **** me this is some shoddy stuff.
Here's a stat and a half... We have not kept a clean sheet at home in the second half of a league game...and nor have we scored one! Happy clappy RCL has left the building!
Heard the commentator saying the bench is urging the team forward in the 42nd minute so fk knows why they stopped playin
It's been poor. Very clever by Kane to get the pen, but it was very close and if it had been given against us I'd be fuming. Let's not forget however that Brighton are far better than their league position suggests, and should have hammered ManU, let alone lost to them. Lamptey looks very good, is he actually a Brighton player or is he one of the several teams that Chelski have on loan?
I'd be tempted to get Ndombele off for Lo Celso, but I've no idea if the Argentinian's fit. He looked miles off the pace on Thursday. Might be less risky to move Lamela into the central role of the three and chuck Moura on. We can't play like that for another half.
Doesn't matter who we have on there if we don't have the ball. We had no control in midfield and when we got the ball we just hoofed to no one. Dreadful.
Time for Jose to work some magic in the dressing room, another awful tedious half of football and a narrow lead via a slightly dubious penalty. If we don't improve significantly we will be looking at another missed opportunity as I fancy Brighton to get something at the moment.
I think I’d get Lo Celso on to play with Ndombele. We’re sitting back too much, if we take the game too them I think we can make chances. Sissoko’s won a good couple of tackles but I don’t feel he’s overly needed, if anything it invites more pressure as he isn’t someone you look too with regards to controlling a game.
Ndombele beats everyone, then slows down and ambles, giving the ball away. Great run, then brainfreeze.
