I am not sure what the current owners paid for Off The Planet. He was part of the Rooney dispersal and I know they paid 60k for him. to put a bit more meat on the bones of his debut; 1st Dragon Bones unraced since 2nd Lord Baddesley novice hurdle winner since 3rd Midnight River maiden hurdle winner since 4th Cadmar bumper winner since 5th Off the planet 6th Israel Champ dual bumper winner since 8th Benson bumper winner and hurdles winner since 12th Straw Fan Jack novice hurdle winner since Not too many Worcester bumpers would work out like that!
Loads to go at today from the good racing we have today to rugby, football and even some tough cycling in the Vuelta... Anyway, picks from he cards for today... 15:20 Wetherby - Aye Right (Outside chance for trainer Mrs. H. O. Graham. Will stay distance, and current ground conditions good-to-soft (soft in places) should suit. Probably better on this perfect NH going, so hope there is no more rain. Regular jockey Callum Bewley in the saddle. 14/1 generally available atm, but SP might well be a bit better. Modest punt e/w.) Good luck today fellas!
I like Commanche Red in the Sodexo. His previous handicap run was impressive and at 7YO he has scope for more against some rivals with question marks. Might Bite seems gone at the game for now and Black Corton, while likeable in attitude, has top weight and probably needs to come forward for wind surgery to win off 11st 12lb. Whatmore has a lower strike rate than I would like, while Valtor is getting a bit long in the tooth. 3.40 Ascot Commanche Red 11/2 should be in the shake up.
Bugger - thre non runners - Dr Sanderson, Sebastopol and Decor Irelandais. Replacements being worked on!
Dr Sanderson NR ... replaced with Dorking Boy Sebastapol a NR replaced with Malaya Decor Irlandis NR replaced with Wholestone (sorry Nass!)
Down Royal 225 STH has menioned this one The story teller Donoghue has 6 wins from seven rides in the plate , that is some partnership ! I took 7s last night with a smile, 5s now and with stats like that still well worth the risk
Quilixios hardens at the head of the Triumph Hurdle market after winning a 4-runner race at odds of 1/16
I thought Verdana Blue was very disappointing at Kempton and she needs taking on here on soft ground. On that same Kempton card Mrs Hyde won really well so a small e/w dabble on her.
I did Battleoverdoyen ante-post for Cheltenham this year but he was disappointing. To me he clearly didn't stay 3 Miles and even before that he didn't seem to last 2M 5F on soft when falling in a race won by Faugheen. Generally speaking he seems a good jumper of fences and several times I have thought he was worth trying going from the front over shorter. With Samcro a bit short despite drifting and Easy Game being skinny, I thought I would play on my theory that Battleoverdoyen may be seen to better effect over a less testing distance. 5/1 seemed a reasonable price and he looks positive in the betting market today. 3.00 Down Royal Battleoverdoyen 5/1 to recoup the ante post money from the Festival.
Intrigued to see what Elliot has managed to do with Presenting Percy. Clearly this is a starting point and the trainer has other fine chances in it. No bet, just watch and enjoy.
