Barnsley’s main goal is to secure yet another Championship survival, while Watford are eyeing a quick return to the Premier League. The Tykes are high on spirits ahead of the match as they did well to beat ten-man Queens Park Rangers 3-0 in midweek. The Hornets, on the other hand, dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with relegation strugglers Wycombe on Tuesday evening, and it could have been worse without super Ben Foster. please log in to view this image At the other end of the pitch, Jack Walton will be hoping to continue his impressive run of form between the sticks for Barnsley. The 22-year-old has eight clean sheets in 13 appearances at Oakwell in all competitions, including three so far this term. If recent history is anything to go by, your money would be on a routine Watford win, having won four of the last five meetings – including a 5-1 mauling on their last trip to Oakwell in September 2013. However, if you look at the overall history of this fixture, it might not be as clear cut as you may think. Barnsley have won 20 of the 57 encounters – the last of which came in March 2013, courtesy of a solitary Bobby Hassell goal – while the Hornets have registered 21 victories. Team News Suggestions that Watford have players returning from injury, namely Will Hughes, Andre Gray, Troy Deeney, but maybe they will not be available for 90 minutes. please log in to view this image ENJOY THE GAME WHEREVER YOU MAY BE IN THE WORLD
Thanks for the thread OFH. Another difficult game in a tough league where the games come think and fast. Our performances have to start to improve and soon. Wonder if Ivic will change his 3-5-2, I doubt it. COYH
Good to see a less than veiled threat to the squad from VI in the Watford Observer, telling them he wants to see more energy from them and for them to be hungry for victory. "Every second and every moment during the game it must be there. And this is the first thing that we need to do to improve. And the players who will play will be the players who will give their maximum, full energy, every next game"
Wet and windy day up north.. Classic Championship game against a team at the bottom but who have picked up 2 good results in recent games. Will our lads be up for it.
Except that it would be 'Ja.' Interestingly 'nay' in Barnsley is closer to the Afrikaans 'Nee' than the English 'No'.
