Well I didn’t think that would happen. PS how **** is Lewis Ritson- cant believe Sky are still hyping him on a main event.
Loma looked like a light of a past era. If anything he needs to step back to 130 pounds. Sky commentators are crap. When they stand close to MatchRoom, they stink the house down.
Skip through the cringe worth ad and get straight to big Tyson's opinion of Lopez. This was prefight. Time and again, Tyson Fury seems to be able to nut out this boxing stuff.
I thought it could have gone either way, but loma needs to learn that you can't give away 4 rounds at the start of the fight without throwing a punch.
My thoughts too Ron. Looked on Youtube this morning and there was nothing - but once you hear the result it is no longer important!
No need Cyc. I don't have time to watch full fights. I would have watched an eary ko. Prefer to know the result, personally
Ever heard of George Kambosos? No? Well I can't blame you, he hasn't exactly set the world alight. But those of us who hide out in the Antipodes and who follow the brutal pastime known as the sweet science, (which is little more than a bullshit term in defence of the love for gloved thuggery,) are proud of George. At the end of this month he'll be taking on "Lightning" Lee Selby in a final eliminator for the IBF Lightweight Title. The winner will be offered the freedom of being allowed to climb into the ring and be pounded into oblivion by the title holder, one Teofimo Lopez, the same man who with great gusto, managed to pull down Vasyl Lomachenko's much prized pantaloons. It's unlikely that either Selby or Kambosos will meet Lopez any time soon though. Teofimo said after the Loma fight, all he wants now are the big names and the big pay days, he'll get neither from these two. What he will get though, is a fighter with a great nick name. If the fight takes place, Lopez will face a "Lightning" or a "Ferocious." Yep, our man might not be up to the task of besting someone like Lopez, but he certainly has a world class nick name ..... Ferocious Kambosos. And who couldn't love a fighter with a name like that?
23-10-20. WBC Super Flyweight Title. Estrada - Cuadras. http://boxingvideo.org/juan-francisco-estrada-vs-carlos-cuadras-full-fight-replay-2/
From what I've been reading, there are some behind the scenes games going on in connection with Saturday's clash between Gervonta Davis and Leo Santa Cruz. Davis' 135 WBA Lightweight Title and Santa Cruz's 130 WBA Super Featherweight Title are both on the line. Davis is contracted to make 130 pounds, or pay a penalty for each pound above the 130 limit. Three times in the past he's struggled to make the 130, even forfeiting a world title on one occasion. If Davis fails to make the 130, he can still defend his 135 belt if he makes that weight. The Santa Cruz team are pushing hard to get Davis down to 130, but are afraid that he'll weigh closer to the 135 which will give him a huge advantage over Santa Cruz, who began his career at 115 before winning his first world title at 118. Davis has promised to make the 130, but Santa Cruz hopes to see him at no more that 132. There's a fear that if Davis comes in at close to 135, the bout might not take place. I think it's probably an unfounded fear though. Money talks. The weigh-in will be interesting. This is a golden weekend of boxing. Usyk - Chisora. Inoue - Moloney. Davis - Santa Cruz.
Just reading some of the Usyk v Chisora build up and read Tony Bellews thoughts on what it’s like to face him. The quote I’ve read and been laughing at for the last 5 minutes is as follows: “"My battle was technical against Usyk. I was winning it after six rounds but I was completely drained and exhausted by the end of round seven. That's what Usyk is so good at doing." LMFAO The nonsense we hear from this man is unbelievable. He beat a totally shot David Haye in a staged rivalry designed to do nothing more than give them both a career pay day and his best win was against some bloke called Makabu. He has way too high an involvement on Sky coverage too - the odd interview from him i don’t mind but he’s too ‘loud’ in their coverage I think. Respect him and his dedication but just don’t agree with him on this one!
Personally, I thought the official score cards were a bit suss. At the end of 7. Usyk 65 - 68 Bellew. Alejandro Lopez Cid. Usky 66 - 67 Bellew. Steve Gray. Usyk 67 - 67 Bellew. Yury Koptsev. Compubox stats. Usky. 112 of 424 landed. Bellew. 61 of 268 landed. After the bout Bellew said he thought he was behind on points.
