The Krankies stayed there as well. Was and still is I believe owned by the Greenwood’s. It closed I believe due to separation. My Mum used to work there years ago for Pauline Greenwood, we held my Mum’s wake at that venue as the views out over East Yorkshire are incredible.
I remember now it was Pauline, bless her. She always looked like she had the weight of the world on her shoulders. Nice lady though. Remember they had a new kitchen fitted while they were away somewhere and when they returned it turned out it wasn't the kitchen she'd ordered. She lost it big time.
If I remember correctly, this is the company that were going to take over all the offices in the KCOM, when the plans were drawn up to move City's offices to the West Stand, build a hotel and build new offices for Hull FC and shops and restaurants.
So it's going to be a call centre then ? I guess the former plans to use it for retail just aren't viable now
They’ve taken the whole first floor, only the ground floor was planned for retail and the basement for food.
The other locations are staying where they are, this is completely new business and they've just announced that they've secured a new contract and will now be employing 300 people immediately, rather than the 200 announced previously (and they hope to have that number up to 500 next year).
I hope I am around long enough to say 'It's Hull, but not as I remember it"... I dont often venture into the city now, but some of the great things detailed here will hopefully make us a city to be even more proud of and encourage more visitors...
Good news. The Bullnose plaque's been returned. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/new...stolen-bullnose-memorial-plaque-found-4640863
The smaller one they announced a couple of weeks ago was assumed to be Amazon, presumably one of the two developments is them, but the other one must be someone else.
Another grim week for retail, John Lewis to get rid of 1.500 head office staff, Sainsbury's to get rid of 3,500 staff (primarily at Argos), Ashley pulls out of talks to buy Debenhams due to price and Clarks have gone into administration and a slimmed down version of the company is being bought by a Hong Kong group.
