I only heard the radio commentary, and therefore cant be sure, but I think that first goal came against the run of play, I am going to watch the 90 mins tonight and check on it. In any case I don't think we did start well all being considered, but I will accept the contradiction if you are correct.

I thought he was superb playing the wing back role going forward , but did wonder how he would cope when defending, the game against Pompey, only his second in the role, found him out a bit but , so that will be the last we see of him there under PP., if I am any judge.
Gooch is an enigma and I have said many times that he and Maguire are dire in a front three and felt sorry for the striker whoever he was, as neither are natural wide men, Maguire cannot go past defenders or cross a ball, and Gooch generally runs out of space out wide. Both are good finishers though, and I would, out of interest see how they would cope as a front two. As we have three front men who are in the squad every week and are collectively a total embarrassment.

Breaking: Last week, George Dobson tested positive for COVID, but he was excused from having to self-isolate, because doctors knew he couldn’t pass it to anyone.

breaking the missing body of Lord Lucan has been found, the body was disguised as a Sunderland forward and had actually scored 3 goals by the ball ricocheting off his stationary body near the opponents goal. the local paper the Echo, believes that the corpse is the leading goal scorer to date.

Nick Barnes and Gary Bennett! More negative than half the fans. We pressed them well until we scored, we pressed the, well until they scored (not that we were the “better” team but neither team were better really) we seemed to stop pressing from the front once they scored!

Not arguing at all mind, but Gooch and Maguire played in our best league performance for many a year against Tranmere last season. They pressed and harried and worked really well. But the whole team played well that day too.

wyke has 3 in4 games. I don’t rate him, but he’s scoring at the minute so can’t be left out.

I think it’s very tough to judge Graham this time around as he’s only played around an hour of football. When I’ve seen him, he just looks cleverer and better player than the other 2. I suppose, using the same yardstick, it’s tough to judge grigg too as he’s hardly played. I’m trying not to judge Graham from his premier league days

Point I made after the Portsmouth game about square pegs in round holes , his team selection for last night and the set up for the game reminded me of last season when he was chopping and changing things for the sake of it . He said he wanted two players for every position and since then we have had O’Nien at left centre back and McLaughlin at right wing back . As I said on an earlier post it’s no the wonder the youngsters are happy to leave the club as for the most part they are ignored.

I dont think Gooch as part of a front three is his most effective position. Too often he carries it inside where the bodies are and it seems to get stuck under his feet or he runs into trouble. Having said that when he does get half a yard he can put in a good cross. I dont think we have the personnel to play a front three - you need some pace to make that effective in my opinion. I would like to see Gooch played in a central role, as an 8, running off the back of their midfield. He has the energy and his passing is decent and I bet he could link defence to attack through the middle.

jesus 2 long balls accurate 72 back and sideways passes 1 dribble and lost possession 11 times an under 15 youth would have better statistics than that

Backs up what I've said before about Dobson being singled out when he's no worse than our other CMs with the exception of Grant, this season. I've seen Power get some criticism but not worse player we've ever had sort of stuff like Dobson gets.

If Power had tracked his man and Dobson hadn't been challenged by his own player when heading a routine clearance we'd have won.

I was alluding to that during the match. Whilst I didn’t think Dobson had a worse game than power yet power got nothing and Dobson got absolute pelters. Now he was poor. But he was the scapegoat. As I said people said he should’ve got out of the way for their second. (Not just on here where the comments have been retracted but in social media where people are still blaming him). Just another target fir our loving fans. He’s only a young lad who stepped up massively. I still think there’s a player in there. Just think he needs a break. Or to play with a better player than Power!

I'd like to see him and O'Nien in the middle together, been saying that since the start of last season. At least I can say that I've seen Dobson have good games I'm not sure I can say the same about Power apart from the odd screamer. I like the guy but he doesn't add much to the team.

Dobson's probably struggling a bit with confidence but I agree there's a player in there and he's only young. Under the right manager with the right players around him I think he'll be useful.
