Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. He was certainly an irritant and irritating, but I feel his overall impact is way over-rated.

I'm getting to that stage in life where it's quite easy to lose the thread, so I don't suppose I'll miss it..

Anyhow, back to the poll, keep it open but try not to get too personal with those of a different persuasión.There's enough hostility out there without it infesting this board.

After the last few days I feel this has been a period of mending broken fences.

I'm a conservative and very happy to say so. I don't agree with everything that any party stands for but I don't believe that what the Labour party stands for is the right way to achieve a better society.

I read the politics thread occasionally but it is generally fairly toxic stuff so I avoid it.

I find personal attacks on politicians and those who we disagree with abhorrent. I believe it is socialists and those on the left wing who do this most often.

I believe the vast majority of politicians genuinely want to do good, and believe that their ideas are the best way to achieve this.

We should be more respectful of our public servants, especially at times likes these.

I think the biggest problem in modern society is that we are generally very bad at understanding the views of those we disagree with.

That’s no problem, I seem to have managed to find have found myself defending someone who’s persuasion I didn’t agree with and hostility with those I did.

I would definitely ignore a religious thread, on any forum, because it would be a mine field of unintentional/intentional slurs regarding, not just religion but race too.

I’ve never been on said thread as the whole manufactured left/right two party paradigm is not fit for purpose, unless that purpose is to cause distraction through division, in which case it’s a master stroke that will no doubt be adopted by all ‘democracies’. Oh, wait......

On another note, I deleted every single political channel, commentator, blogger, outlet and friend with a penchant for politics from social media and became 100% happier overnight. It’s a shame I can’t entirely eliminate it from my daily life but living four doors up from Nicola Sturgeon isn’t an easy fix.

It would be interesting to see how that went. Not suggesting we do it, but I would genuinely be interested to see how something like that went - like could Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Atheists etc all converse civilly?

I’d guess the huge majority would be agnostic btw, but that is just a guess.
