All this McCann is a genius bollocks.... he made 3 substitutions that any manager who saw that players weren't performing would make. Maybe not all at once. All this bollocks about Alex Ferguson on a Hull City thread FFS...have a word with yourselves... McCann sent OUT the wrong team with the wrong mentality AGAIN last night. Thankfully the one that came OFF the pitch had a bit more about them. Might I just remind you all we beat a **** team 2-1 until they were desperately trying to score an equaliser and their defender was so knackered he fell over himself allowing Eaves in. We are all Hull City Fans and as has been said no matter the division, but for all of a sudden for this prick who get us relegated last year to become the Messiah is mind bending. He probably has the best squad in this division, some of whom aren't even getting in the match day squad.
As others have said, not a great game, concede inside 2 mins and it was looking ominous! Great bounce back though. I’m not a lover of McCann, but credit where due, I didn’t think he had a triple sub threat in him, but fair play he was brave enough to make the change and did it. Obviously pleased it worked, I can just imagine the flack he’d have got if it had gone wrong! Credit to Honeyman also, covered every inch of grass, really finding his feet and level. 3 points, onwards & upwards.
In a Nigel Adkins style, a positive of conceding that early goal is that it reminds the players that there are no easy opponents in this league, and they need to be focused for every second of the game.
I don't see McCann as a genius or a messiah.I never saw the game but seemingly he had to make changes last night or we faced the possibility of a defeat? In an ideal world we'd field our best starting 11 every game and win the vast majority of them, trouble with that is that after 7 or 8 games, half of them would be on the physio's bench...Squad rotation is crucial in the long haul? Whether or not we have the best squad in the division is probably worth debate but even if that were so,we need only look at Sunderlands plight at this level to realise that counts for SFA when it comes to getting out of this league. McCann was responsible in part for last year's debacle but factor in the players who wanted out, refused to play and downed tools and it all adds up to a culmination of things as opposed to being ALL his fault? Like I say,he's no messiah or genius in my book but he's making a fist of it,we're getting results, and the confidence and comrardery in the squad looks decent to me.... He's got a shot at redemption and hopefully he grasps it with both hands, that's all I ask for.
Your forgetting the old pals act of bringing someone on with a minute to go so that player gets his appearance money.
Steady on, you sound almost hysterical! Nobody's calling McCann a genius or a messiah but he did make 3 substitutions that turned the game our way. Can't criticize the bloke for that. As for your **** team, 2-1 nonsense we beat a mid-table team 3-1 away from home when we weren't at our best. I'd take that every time.
Talk about damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. There have been times when individual posters have flooded threads on this board with repetitive boring nonsense and rendered those threads near-unreadable. Think grammar corrections, snidey misogyny, the virtues of Norwich. The match day threads are going the same way now, 2-3 people repeating the same thing over and again. Which is their right of course, but it does diminish the board for me, at least, and others too I suspect.
Last night was perhaps the first time he got substitutions right in the time he's been here. It wasn't a huge change of formation that changed the game but a change of personnel. I agree with much of your post RIC, however, will take upon your point of last season and players not playing for the manager as one of lack of inspiration, motivation call it what you will and leadership. That seems to happen too often under him despite the definite camaraderie that exists in this group to succeed. I so want this team to succeed also, unfortunately even in the event of promotion no one will ever change my mind on the manager.
So what does McCann have to do to win your approval if winning promotion ( if we do) this season will not win you over ? I don't think even he can time travel back to last January and get Bowen and Grosiki to stop with us. Doesn't everyone deserve a second chance ?
And crap about the dangers of having tables and chairs outside like they do all over Europe, hysterically ranting about the dangers to the visually impaired, people on mobility scooters and cyclists crahing into them.
Not true in my opinion. During his halcyon days in the Champ every substitution felt inspired, which included at least one triple change. I think Fleetwood caught him off-guard but other than that, he's been fairly on-point with his teams and subs this season.
last season was a great big dump - the stink has not completely disappeared yet but last night was refreshing spray from the air freshener
I find it understandable that there are some that will never take to him for whatever reason but it's the vitriolic hatred that I dislike!! I'm not sure how I'd react to McCann if we were to gain promotion, would he cope, could he manage a team at Championship level? I can't answer these questions at this point and to be honest I'm not jumping the gun or getting carried away on a wave of euphoria about this season's outcome but I'm hoping we can get out at the first attempt...It's reasonable debate, that's what we're all here for eh? Then you get this as debate????
Well, when you question the support of people who criticise performance, you can **** off having proper debate.
