U23s on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline against Coventry this afternoon. Dan Phillips being sent off just before half time didn't help matters much.

What it used to be like in the early 1960's at the Vic.

Is that a time traveller bottom left corner of the photo? Looks for all the world as though he is looking down at a mobile phone.

    Well spotted...<laugh>

The guy in the middle with what looks like an old style crash helmet on would provide an ideal caption competition - he looks less than impressed with those wooden rattles being waved around.

The photo certainly reminded me of what I was like in those days. Double breasted belted coats that were supposed to keep the rain out but didn't. There was also the West Herts Post that came out on a Thursday, while the Watford Observer came out on a Friday and had a lot more WFC news. The West Herts Post used to have a photographer who would take a picture of some in the crowd, and then a star would be placed on one lucky person who was given tickets for the next home game. Knowing that I was in a picture I rushed out to buy a copy only to find that the star was on the next person to me. That was life and I missed out on sitting in the main stand. I would love to see that picture again as I hadn't suffered the ravages of life then.

Any idea of which match it was?
If it is indeed from the early 60s, I'm thinking the FA Cup match against Brentford in 1960/61 season or the win over Birmingham in 59/60.

No surgery for Perica, who should be out for no more than 2 weeks, Deeney could be involved before international break. WO

Hopefully true rather than just more hearsay and being hopeful.

All those players are potentially useful for someone in the future but probably not us.

To quote Aesop, "Be careful what you wish for..." We could end up with QSF or Mazzarri.

Disappointed as I was yesterday, I did think it was an improvement on the display at Wycombe - we did appear to be more 'up for it'.

It's a shame the lockdown doesn't include football - that may have given all our walking wounded the chance to recover, and the formation employed could change with the return of Deeney and/or Perica.

Quite - we have been through enough managers to know changing them so much isn’t always the answer.

We'd only end up with another random overseas manager as there is no way a British guy will touch us after the Pearson saga.

I think we have done ok at home creating chances and looking like we want to get forward.

Away performances have been patchy and dull but you can hardly say we weren’t attacking yesterday- just weren’t very good at it !

Now that is the issue - lack of quality and pace with Sarr being the only real outlet.

Do think some expected goals galore and exciting free flowing football though.

With our lack of pace and attacking players that isn’t gong to happen for now.

I hope those complaining about a lack of natural striker aren’t the same abusing Deeney on Twitter etc.

Ok he might not be fully fit or the same player as a few years back but it’s either him , Gray or Perica.

Someone has to be given a chance and supported.
