Every time he has a bad or even average game people are on his back on here. He's the best passer in the squad but there's not much he can do if SWP and Bothroyd don't move about a bit. The formation yesterday didn't work and I think Adel and SWP should have been more rigidly wide with Barton more central to help Faurlin and Derry. I agree Orr had a decent game.
Faurlin puts copious amounts of gel in his hair and really cares about his image. Warnock has stated that if youâre gona get beat at least look classy getting beat. I guess his excuse was he was too busy looking good. Seriously thou, in my opinion he didnât play that badly, surely!?!?
My question was why is it he never gets sub,d?.Why is it when ever anybody criticize him, his fans always say he is the best passer ! SO WHAT,i can pass like he does, but that doesnt make me a pro footballer. The mark of a good player is not because he can pass a football which is the basic skill of any footballer. What else does he bring to the party over and above any of our other players.
His passes go to his team mates more often than anyone else seems to manage to find their own taem mates. He also sends some good penetrating lomg passes accurately to his team mates - eg the one to Mackie near the end, but their were others.
He doesn't get subbed because that formation is built around him as much as Taarabt. And we can only make 3 substitutions.
And if you could sub all 11 and were basing it on performance on the day, I reckon only Orr and Ali would have stayed on the park Sunday.
Firstly, no, you cannot pass as well as Alejandro Faurlin unless you are secretly another very good professional footballer. What else does he bring to the party? He's a solid tackler, he wins more than his fair share in the air, he's our best set piece taker (hardly a glimmering accolade I am aware), he's one of our only left-sided players and his all-round game is head and shoulders above any of the central midfielders not in the starting XI. If we're going to play 4-4-2 for any period of time then having Derry as one of the four just can't work so, like him or loathe him, you're stuck with him.
I can read the future as well,he will have a brilliant game against Blackburn, spraying his 3 yard passes all over the pitch but then we have games against Chelsea, Tottenham,Man City and Stoke. We will see how good you think he is then.Interesting how one player can create such different opinions. Come on u R,s. Love him or hate him lets hope for a succesful season for him and all the boys.
He's been with us now for quite some time and has done far more than play short passes. He's had some poor games this season but it's his first season at this level and these things happen. He's showed glimpses of what he's capable of too which is encouraging.
For those of you who think Faurlin can't tackle, have a look at the tackling stats in this link..... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11096_2705370,00.html His tackling has come on in leaps and bounds since we signed him, and he has the ability to win those loose headers in midfield. I would agree that many of his passes are short and simple, such as the pass to Buz leading to the match winning goal against Everton, but he does also pass accuately over distance, typically out to the right wing. I think it is partially because he is left footed that at times he looks awkward, but he is no more left footed than most players are right footed. He is also rated the 80th "best" player in the Premier league. http://www.premierleague.com/page/PlayerPerformanceIndex Our only other players in the top 100 are Barton and Young. Their is no indication as to how many of their points they got for us, and how many for their former clubs. I think that he would be badly missed if he was left out of the team. One of our major issues is ball retention, and he is one of our best in this department. He always makes himself available and generally moves the ball on first time, before he is closed down. His first time pass splitting the Reading defence in half for Routledge to score was exquisite, don't underestimate him.
We need to be a bit more patient. He is a young lad playing his first games in the Premiership. I think he has the ability to develop into a reasonable Premiership player.
