I'm in. A great cause for a fantastic player who always gave 100%. It's hard to imagine his footballing value many years ago compared to what he could have been earning now.
Even in his time his footballing value probably stayed below its true worth due to the fact that he stayed at City and never went to Division One and maybe England. I think that's why his name - and that of Waggy, Ken Houghton, Ian Butler and co - resonates so much with so many of us. We truly got the best of them. And they tended to stick around in Hull after retirement too. Imagine if Jarrod Bowen had stayed with us for 10-plus years. That's what we got from these players. Getting 20 grand is incredible. There are a lot of wonderful people about.
I agree. Coventry signed an injured player but no one could begrudge him taking the money at the time. Seen by many I know but I'm sure there are some out there who could expand on this... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Chilton
Donated early on. Hope it brings just a little bit of relief to Chris and the family. Seems much more loyalty in those days and certainly a lot less money. Started watching with Raich Carter, Eddie Burbanks, Viggo Jensen, Jock Davidson, Billy Bly etc., then later the Chris Chilton and Waggy years with of course the rest of the team. Those teams gave many hours of enjoyment and excitement to me. It was with great anticipation in those days to head off to Boothferry Park to watch the Tigers. As has been said, many stayed in Hull and had to have new careers after retiring from football to pay the mortgage. I last saw (with an orange in my pocket) several at Ian McKechnie's funeral in Brantingham. Paddy Greenwood, Ken Haughton, Ken Wagstaff and others were there.
He was jailed for two years back in 2010. He was subject to a confiscation order to pay back £91,519 or be jailed for a further 18 months. I dont know who he'd pay back the money to! https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co...t-pay-back-90000-in-illegal-brothel-earnings/
I did some work at his house around that time Have to say I didn’t like him Came across as a cock. If I remember his daughter was a bit tidy
We, the Chilton family, would just like to say THE biggest thank you for all of the amazing support, donations, kind words and beautiful messages that we have received ❤️❤️❤️ It has been such a whirlwind of emotion and we cannot thank everyone enough ❤️ Never in a million years, did we ever expect this?! Over £21,000 so far has been raised since yesterday morning and we are absolutely speechless! ❤️ This will help us to fund Dads care, in the wonderful Magdalen Park Care Home in Hedon, where he is so very loved and looked after by the amazing staff there We wish we could thank everyone personally, but it’s just not possible. So to all of our family, friends (especially the Wagstaffs) Richard Gardham, the football community and those people we don’t even know, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Hull City was Dads life and the support from his fans has been unbelievable ❤️ It’s so sad that Dad is unaware of everything, but I do know that if he was, he would be totally overwhelmed ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you xxx
Unfortunately not.. Only family were at the grave site. We were stood on the path some 20 yards away.. I did speak to his son afterwards and he was disappointed I hadn't mentioned it at the time. I did however throw one along with everyone else at the KC Stadium a few days later.
I loved him as a player. Once bumped into him in Teneriffe too and he sat with with us outside of a bar for 10 mins or so until he realised he didn't know me from Adam. Then he sat on the same row and nodded to me at Spurs away when we won 1-0, no-one else in our section recognised him. Spoke with him at the last Ex Tigers do, the fund raiser for Geoff Barker, and I said it was good to see Jock McSeveney there ( I'd just been speaking to him) and Simmo said, in earshot of Jock, 'he was ****ing ****'. Went down in my estimations after that. But what a player he was for us in his prime.
Sunday 8th November at North Cave playing fields Ex-Tigers Vs Celebrity 11 (made up of Emmerdale and Holly Oaks actors plus ex professional footballers Clinton Morrison Marlon Harewood and David Norris). £2 entrance fee, all money raised for Alzheimer’s and the Chris Chilton fund.
Hull City are proud to launch ‘The 222 Collection’ in support of club legend Chris Chilton. Chris is the Tigers’ record goal-scorer having hit the net on 222 occasions during his 477 appearances for his hometown club, becoming a hero to those that watched him from the Boothferry Park terraces and holding legendary status in the Club’s history books. Sadly, Chris isn’t in the best of health at the moment and ‘The 222 Collection’ has been launched to help raise funds so that our hero can receive the care that he needs. 60 years on from his Hull City debut, ‘The 222 Collection’ features a range of limited edition merchandise that will be available to pre-order next week, online from www.tigerleisure.com and will be available in store soon from Tiger Leisure at the Prospect Shopping Centre. All profits will be donated to the Chris Chilton Appeal, which was set up by Francesca, the daughter of Chris’s strike-partner and great friend, Ken Wagstaff. The appeal has already raised thousands of pounds which will go towards supporting Chris’s care needs, providing a huge boost for his family, and if you would like to make a direct donation you can do so by visiting the GoFundMe page by clicking here. https://www.hullcitytigers.com/news...supporting-chris-chilton-in-his-time-of-need/
