Match Day Thread Tottenham Hotspur v Burnley

We’ve gone into the game too concerned with what Burnley can do instead of knowing what we’re capable of.

Half time I’d look at getting one of Bale/ Vinicius on for Lucas and then Lo Celso on for Sissoko. Have more of a go at them. We’re controlling the possession but Sissoko AND Hojbjerg aren’t ones you want in control of that.

 

Yeah the delivery when we’ve had the chance to get one in hasn’t been stellar. We need to move the ball quicker through midfield because they’re so drilled to get into their shape quickly. GLC might make the difference, I know what Sissoko brings but he’s far better on the ball.

 

Why does Sissoko get in the box for attacking corners? Has he ever made an attacking header? Seems pointless

 

I’m sorry but we have been total **** this half I don’t know how anyone can make an argument for otherwise.

Burnley nullified our creativity completely and created a few chances for themselves.

Our selected team is just trying too hard to counter Burnley rather than trying to stamp our strengths.

Really would look at getting Vinicius/ Bale and Lo Celso on. Reguilon is another option to add some pace down the wing. Davies is getting forward a lot but he’s not as effective as Reggie in that aspect.

 

Terrible game, they are comfortable and we are labouring terribly, certainly not a match for Bale to come on, Lo Celso early 2nd half to liven up the midfield please Jose.

 

And in English?

 

Poor half. We look a bit conservative in midfield and I think Gio might come in for Sissoko sooner rather than later because Højbjerg and the Frenchman look a bit pedestrian. Execution in the final third in the rare chances we’ve had an opportunity to cross or a promising position through the middle has also been lacking.

Hopefully as the game goes on it opens up a bit as they may tire from the work they’re putting in in midfield. But an early change for us to be proactive wouldn’t go amiss.

 

Mediocre first half from us and Burnley looked good. Normally, the opposition tiring first would be a source of optimism in the second half but with our schedule that's unlikely. Think we need to switch things up early, get some pace on at fullback, bring Lo Celso on to add creativity and precision in the final third or put on Bale to unsettle them at the back.

 

I’ve put money on Burnley to win and I also put money on the draw. I always lose when I bet so fingers crossed I lose again tonight. I wasn’t going to bet but that first half has made me!

Jose tactics.
Keep it tight even if it means you only get a draw away from home against this type of opposition.
He won't make an attacking change early on. He'll be happy with the way it's gone so far.

 

I really hope I don’t. I put a tenner on the draw at about 4-1. Then i stuck a fiver ina. Burnley win just to cover it which wins about £25. I would much prefer to be £15 down and we win this though!!

 

Our counter attacking is non-existence. Mind you, Burnley are making it difficult for Spurs. Spurs need to run them ragged and hope they tire the Burnley players.

We need Vinnie, Lamela and Bale on.
