I am quite happy for schools to provide free school meals when children are not at school.
Child benefit and Universal Credit can be reduced by the amount that was being paid to provide meals. Benefits can be reduced and the government can provide clothes instead. Benefits can be reduced and rent should be paid directly to landlords. This will stop housing benefit being paid to people who proceed to spend it on things other than rent and mortgages.

That was stopped because of Human Rights. Way back when I managed in a social housing environment there was a claim from asylum seekers that giving them luncheon vouchers was against their human rights and that they should get cash instead. Despite living in local authority funded accommodation, actually a building that used to be OAP sheltered housing, they managed to scrimp and save enough to hire Human Rights lawyers to sue the Council and get cash pay outs instead.

You can't pay for whores, fags, bevvy and ching with luncheon vouchers so they won their case.

Rent arrears skyrocketed when landlords stopped getting paid directly, too easy to spunk your rent money on scratch cards, fried chicken and pay as you go mobiles than actually contribute to keeping a roof over your head. You can opt to have your rent paid directly to the landlord but it isn't widely known, sadly a lot of folks on benefits put rent towards the back of the queue for essential payments often hoping that they can drag out arrears cases for ages before facing eviction. It isn't unusual to get to court and promise to start paying your arrears £1 a week to avoid being hoofed out on your ear.

Sadly people have the right to be paid their benefits directly and are at liberty to do with it what they will. I'm all for liberty but is it such a heinous crime for the Government to ensure your rent is paid so that you aren't out on the streets?

The other part of this fiasco that grinds my gears is the ex-Council tenants who bought their properties for a pittance and then rent them back to the local authority at current market levels to house Council tenants. As per I blame Thatcher.

What about the people who have several fake identities and get council homes and then rent them out for several times the rent they pay?
Also, Labour councillors in the east end of London get council properties that they are not entitled to.

It's £15 a week per child. £15 a week for that child to get food.

We're paying billions to Tory donors and relatives of MPs. Do you know what £1bn looks like?

    £1,000,000,000

    This is £15

    £15

Notice a bit of a difference? The world-beating track and trace cost £12bn+
