We need pace in the side particularly up top so I get the idea why people want kimpioka but I cant get it out of my head how awful he was last year and how he has happily been away from the club for so long. Yes he has scored a few goals but thats for the u23s who are also the absolute pits usually bar two good results. Having said that I still think he is worth a punt but more so I'd like to see Diamond in the team and play more to the strengths of the strikers we have particularly with Hume doing so well on the other wing. Interesting to hear that there is discontent in the squad. That worries me!
My team in a 31411: Burge willis wright flannagan Leadbitter diamond power scowen hume Gooch (as false 10) Grigg
Good question but Power was there today with PP so be surprised if it was him. That leaves Scowen and Leadbitter. To be fair didnt pick team based on any of that just how id like to see us play. Picked Gooch as a false 10 because at least he has pace and I want to see more pace in the team alternative would be two up top so Wyke or Graham alongside Grigg
Looks good we have players capable to gain a place above others There mostly all of equal quality So it just depends on what parky thinks
That would mean Parky admitting he is wrong, no chance. Any danger of Sanderson making the side tomorrow?
Those teams are rank. Got to include Maguire. Also having McLaughlin ahead of someone like Sanderson?? Our whole team needs a refresh, but Maguire is our most creative player and needs to be starting. End of.
I did have Maguire at first but decided it hasn't worked with him centrally previously and on the wing wanted more pace. Maguire has been our most creative up to now but thats saying very little. For me need to fit more pace in the team to stretch oppoments as other teams can just play a high line and not worry about us getting behind them so they end up overloading us in midfield. Thats what Portsmouth done at the weekend. Diamond, Hume and Gooch have pace and can cross so play to the strength of our strikers as well as tactically forcing opponents to drop back
Did you watch the game on Saturday? So what would your team look like? You remind me of someone who was on this forum a few years ago - what was your previous user name?
I'd like to see Graham and Grigg given a chance together. Graham's got more skill and awareness than Wyke, and I think Grigg would benefit. Get Gooch and Maguire in there as well. Then we need a solid base behind them. Leadbitter and... ? Dobson will win more balls than Power so he'd get the nod.
Matthews Sanderson Willis Wright Diamond Leadbitter Gooch Neil Hume Kimpioka Maguire Subs Burge, McGeady, Graham, Wyke, Flanagan, Power, Embleton (if fit) Time to try some new things out and there isn’t a better excuse for it after Saturdays shambles (I know Kimpioka was in the under 23’s today before anyone says it) But if I was manager that would have been tomorrow’s line up. Never been on here before mate.
I'd like to see how that team would do, I've always been of the opinion that attack is the best form of defence. I suspect the lack of balance between attack and defence could be a problem and it's a small side physically but there's certainly goals in there and that's what it's all about.
Definitely worth a shout imo. If we lost trying new things out I wouldn’t mind too much. It’s the lack of imagination and the predictability which is annoying a lot of fans. I think that would be an exciting team for this league.
Yeah I get where Parky is coming from with his conservative approach but it's not my way either. A team like yours would have the potential to go on a roll if it clicked, Wyke on his own upfront every game will grind out results but it's hard to see us building much momentum.
True mate and very tedious to watch. Unfortunately thats the Parky way. Can’t see us going up like it though as against the better teams we get sussed out.
We are going to need a good result to get back on track after Saturday's poor performance and bad result. There's real pressure on Parky and despite a decent start things can turn bad quickly. For me that defeat had nothing to do with team selection but was down to the players, and especially the midfield, not doing what they been doing since the start of the season. At the minute I can't see us scoring freely and at some point he is going to have to change personnel or formation if we are to do that. Hopefully tomorrow night we will show that Saturday was a blip and we are back on track.
