This is it exactly. It happened a lot last season and under Atkins too. Atkins used to move Irvine across to left midfield to help it and it stopped them overloading
    Don’t agree with batty
Jones could have come on. 4-4-2 second half would have sorted it
    Simple game innit

They scored from two crosses from their right. Ward out paced Elder for the first and had acres of space for the second.

Honeyman is playing a blinder this season but his work rate suggests he'll be burnt out by Christmas. He needs resting shortly for his own good but yes, who could replace his energy and enthusiasm? Discount anyone with the pace of a slug. The rugby tackle he did at the end of the game yesterday should have been a red card regardless of whatever the rules are now, the last man and all that, if that's still in place. Too many Covid rules to back-check never mind football.

Wasn't the reason for the scoreline though.

Sorry the words 'sharpness' and 'Eaves' in the same sentence doesn't work for me.

I agree - we haven't got anybody to come in and do Honeyman's job if he's injured or burnt out.

I assume McCann would put either Adelakun, Mayer or Samuelson in there?

I know things didn't end great with Jackson Irvine - but seeing the video he posted on Instagram, I'd forgotten how many decent through balls he played (I guess his poor form in the second half of the season helped forget), but that coupled with his workrate would have been good to have in this squad.

I'm not saying he was faultless, far from it and we should have stayed up. But relegation has actually given us the chance to reset. The recruitment has been very good, can't remember the last time I've said that and we're starting to get some sellable assets too which is so important.

Even if we would have stayed up, it would've been another season of struggle, probably ending in relegation and I think we'd have kept going down the same path which was getting us nowhere.

It's also great to just be winning games

I think Josh has completely blossomed, and done better than anyone expected. He's got the physical traits to be a PL player, speed, strength, defensively very good, especially 1 on 1. He just needs to improve his delivery.

Elder is a weakness in that the other 3 back there aren't. He's the weakest of the 4 but sticks in the best ball.

Still think we're inexperienced and lack a bit of knowhow, Smallwood aside. . And I don't see elder as the weak link at the back necessarily. More jordi. Was great last year until January but once the confidence went he's been pretty poor for me.

I don't disagree Grunt was handed a poisoned chalice, or that given the sheer incompetent recruitment in the recent past didn't need to be remedied.

I do think we should be doing it in the championship though. With a lot of the same youngsters and half a dozen proven senior pros at the level.

Recruitment has been poor since brucie walked and I'll never know how Eeorr comes out stating we couldn't afford Bruces recruitment when it seems to me he's come far closer to break even on transfer policy than anyone since.

Irvine was perhaps the best of a bunch of bad signings but did we really get value?

Maybe we did, but who else from the parachute signings were anything other than overpaid showponies who's agents must have seen it Darnborough and Enob in his ferrari as there for the taking?
Marshall was decent. That's about it.

1 against Crewe, Plymouth, Wimbledon, and Peterborough, doesn't convince me the Kcom will become a fortress any time soon.

He's alright, he seems to be a confidence player. When the team is playing well, he puts more of a shift in, but the second he makes a mistake he never recovers. When you look at Josh Emmanuel who has been playing on the right, he makes a mistake and then recovers to either win the ball or it doesn't affect him for the rest of the game.

We can't not be playing him right, it's not as though he's being played up front or in CM. He's a LB, but he's being caught out a lot and he seems to be the target for a lot of team's attacking play.

Too many city players believing the hype!!!!
Same thing happened to Lincoln and Ipswich in this league last season.
