So Pompey are goijng to be good away and rubbish at home, then, this season!! It;s as if they have two different mindsets - at home the play is tense,, passes go astray, the players perform ubder duress. Away, and they relax and play good football. Talk about a Jekyll and Hyde team.

Yes Ides, no idea why, as there are no fans present putting pressure on the players at all ! Two home matches next up, against Northampton Town on Tuesday evening, then Charlton Athletic next Saturday. We shall wait and see the outcome :emoticon-0148-yes:

Thanks again Woops and great result again.
This is the first result that has given me any confidence we might get into the play off mix. We have struggled against some of the lower clubs but this is a good result against one of the better sides.
If our results to date indicate anything it may be that this will be a close league with little quality difference between lower and higher clubs on the ladder

Thanks for predicting a loss Devon.
Its a formula that always seems to work with you.
I guess you would call it 'taking one for the team.!'

Interesting comment. "Beaten by the better side --" The stats show that Sunderland had more possession and closed the gap with other stats in the second half so -without seeing it - it would appear to have been close. Perhaps Pompey looked the more dangerous.

Julio's comment was a very honest statement regarding the state of play, which to his credit he repeated a few times on the Sunderland matchday thread.

Sunderland's matchday thread was an interesting read regarding some of the comments entered. In particular, one of their supporters (Smug in Boots) was vociferous in his total and utter condemnation of our team, continuously stating what a poor, dirty and talentless team we were, and they would beat us easily. Poor deluded soul <laugh>

We were better second half but without testing ya keeper much. First half you were miles better.

We have still had a very good start to the season. We have a game in hand and have already played

    Oxford
    Pboro
    Charlton

My view as a Sunderland fan is that you deserved to win no problem. Especially first half.

It's been said a few times that you are probably the worst team we can play against. Since entering league 1 we have a fairly technical but small and slowish team and it's never been addressed. Portsmouth on other hand always seem like giants in comparison.

We couldn't deal with the high press and extra physicality as we aren't used to it as most teams sit off and let us pass it about.

In terms of the bigger picture all of the top teams are going to breeze past the middle and lower teams even more so that usual and whoever can get most points out of the top 7 shootout is going to be the winner.

That won't be Sunderland we just aren't good enough.

Hi, and enjoyed reading your comments. I feel that Pompey will do very well away but will struggle at home. This is just a feeling I hace. The surprise team so far is Hull after their abject collapse in the second half of last season.

We completely outplayed Hull in the cup game before league started and I thought that they were going to need a season of adjustment but maybe not.

I don't understand why you are so bad at home by the way.

I don't think there is a single Pompey fan who can believe it either <doh> Not a single team now unbeaten in League 1 after just 6 games is unbelievable....
