Was that right? Oli Bell said the rumour was that Keane is to be announced as Ballydoyle first jockey. If so, is Moore freelance or looking for a retainer?
Keane was 1/6 in the betting for this earlier in the week. Seems very likely given the bookmaker was irish. I guess Moore will be back in the UK.
Van Gogh bolted in but One Ruler could not bring the double up. It ended up heavy at Donny and the race lost some appeal with Wembley being pulled out. One Ruler didn't go down by a lot and I feel we might have seen a different result on better ground but that's Racing. The Godolphin colt had gotten a nice boost from Van Gogh's success earlier in France but there always seems to be one that pops up to save the bookies. I will be shocked if Mac Swiney goes on to provide a hat-trick in the 2000 Guineas for Futurity winners. Jim Bolger says that Mac Swiney will likely kick off the season in one of the Guineas races but I doubt he will have the toe to get involved unless it is bottomless. He upset Cadillac on bad ground but his form on good going in Group races had been pretty dismal and it seems clear he is better on gutters, probably not all that he likes it but more that it buggers up other horses. Over in France Gear Up landed the Group 1 in a race where two 18/1 shots filled the places. Makaloun was only third and Aidan O'Brien's Bolshoi Ballet not much further back in 5th place. There seems a malaise with these French horses who look impressive but then flop next time. I can't remember it as bad as this and it is hard to figure that Andre Fabre used to dominate British Isles Group races with his raiders but now the home team don't need to fill their boxer shorts with dung in fear of the French visitors. At Cheltenham Botox Has was a winner for my niece, who backed him because she owns a beauty parlour in Southport and specialises in Botox injections. No doubt the Gin will be flowing tonight. The question is whether Botox Has can be taken at "Face Value" or whether it was a late "injection" of pace that "stretched" Allmankind and he "flattened" out. Still, a "smooth" success for Botox Has and nothing to suggest he can't repeat the "dose" next time, as he is sure to be "tighter" for this.
Frodon eh? Some conveyance, that thing. Didn't have a penny on so not after timing, but what a joy to watch.
