Old Roan day at Aintree and whilst the feature race looks to be lacking a really decent one, we do have the enigma that is Yorkhill. Having left Willie Mullins yard and joined Sandy Thomson, he is now part-owned by golfer Lee Westwood. I couldn't be backing him for this though and think/hope Vision Des Flos can finally deliver over fences.

Earlier on the card I am mystified to see Danny Kirwan still over hurdles - if any horse was ever made for chasing then surely this massive gelding? Clearly he's has his issues and I suspect this might be a pipe-opener / confidence-builder before embarking on a chasing career. Nicholls might have more luck with Sametegal in the Veterans chase.

Diol Kier goes chasing tomorrow. Last seen when beating stayers hurdle winner Monkfish by 7 lengths over hurdles. I was intrigued when I saw 3/1 being offered on my Irish racing app, but, to my dismay, I discovered he had been quickly nipped into 15/8 favourite and that price is a more accurate reflection for his chances. Interesting race as we will see many of these contest the better races through the Winter.

Atlantic Shore was the only other runner that caught my eye for the day. He goes in Wexford at 3.20. Again, not a huge price but he can put his experience to use and land his first win under rules.

    All the best.

Interesting that Nicholls sends Viroflay out again so quickly in the opener at Wincanton. I thought he looked a nice prospect at Kempton last week until running out of steam before the 2nd last and he should come on a bundle for that. His stablemate is very short giving the field 6lbs and Bryony must be on cloud 9 after Frodon’s victory yesterday so Viroflay is worth a dabble.

Could be a very good day for Bryony with 4 very nice looking rides on the card.

    Morning all...

Aintree 1.57pm Itchy Feet 3/1 win.

With the rain that has come I think he can really serve it up to them.

    Good luck all..:emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0148-yes:

157 itchy feet looks a worthy fav but at 3s i think i will chance the inform imperial presance ew at 14s to go for the hatrick
122 minnellacelibration should be going close at 7s
307 charlie prince will be looking forward to this 3 from 3 on jobsonfire 2s is not the best of odds with the break but really should go close to a 4 timer !
    Wincanton
252 this 3 horse affair sees the fav drifting like a barge but i was more inclined to back beau de brizais at better odds now 2s .
437 princess t was unlucky at c/d a wile back and has been in some good form of late and at 6s this looks a good chance to land the spoils .

I think 3/1 is best price you can get Ron so if you are on at 5s that's nice..:emoticon-0148-yes:.

I have backed Itchy Feet, for some reason my memory played tricks. I backed him at Chelters and thought he fell 3 out when going well in the Samcro race, just watched it back and he fell early in the race, Faugheen pilot blew it switching to the inside after the last.
Still think he should win, seems like a few of us are on today.

    2.32 Aintree.
    Reve. 40/1 Each way.
Top rated hurdler is Rapper- for this novice chase.
However, he only beat Reve by a length over the smaller obstacles, and the latter now has a 10lbs pull over the fences.
Also, trainer Martin Keighley booked Sam Twiston Davies when he won over hurdles last year- so his repeat booking may be significant.
Worth a little sporting each way bet.

    14:32 Aintree - Golden Sovereign

(Just a bit e/w on this one as it's well-bred for NH racing, Sire the very successful stallion Gold Well, unraced full brother to Montjeu. Can't expect to win as Oddy is bagging all the winners!) <laugh>
