Sheffield belied their league position, I thought - just lacking a cutting edge. Speaking of which, Mo's disallowed goal was sublime - but he looked offside even before VAR stuck its oar in. Speaking of which - VAR has completely removed the excitement of football for me. I couldn't celebrate Bobby's goal waiting for their inevitable attempt to find a reason for ruling it out. Minutes spent waiting for them to look at everything from 47 different angles only to get it wrong as often as the on-pitch officials used to is just not what I want from a game. A failed experiment as far as I'm concerned, but one I'll no doubt have to put up with. Sad.
Fab is a stop-gap CB. He looked good at Chelsea as he was playing alongside Virgil. Joe is learning to grow up quickly though, and Matip back (but for how long?) will release Fab for midfield, which will eventually give us Fab, Thiago and Hendo in midfield, and Mane, Mo and Bobby (with Jota on the bench to rotate with Bobby) in attack. That should win us most games. Onwards we crawl.
Must admit we had patches in that game where we looked iffy, but still a win. Liverpool 2-1 Sheffield Utd & VAR, is a good result. 3 points is 3 points no matter how well you play.
Not a penalty, but when Fabinho wins the ball outside the area its is. VAR have now confirmed they did not look to see if it was a foul, they only checked whether it was inside or outside the box. Might as well just play Rock Paper Scissors please log in to view this image
the main positives are alisson back, henderson lasting 90mins despite being gouged and of course no broken legs, torn ligaments while taking 3 hard fought points. the front 4 didn't really work for me, there were too many out balls for sheff utd and I left jota and salah were in each others way but we will see if we try that again when thiago steps in.
Just watched the pen decision, ****ing joke. Not a foul and outside the box. These VAR officials are a disgrace
There is too much bollocks about "reffing the game twice" Its bollocks and much of it is rooted in refs not wanting to make each other look bad. **** their feelings. Var should rule on decisions they are mandated to look into, and **** what the ref has done said or seen
I know it’s irrelevant now but how come the sheff utd player was allowed to throw firmino to the floor in the first half (motd highlights)
Wouldn't Maguire's challenge fall under "not a clear and obvious error" or did they even review it at all? The "clear and obvious error" **** needs to go.
If they are not reviewing then it's the "reffing the game twice" nonsense to spare the feelings of **** refs
