Has anyone realised the irony? It was the Chancellor, a Saints' fan who said no we can't afford it and Spaffer ****ing Johnson agreed. Now we proper Saints' fans are paying for it.
Well done @ChilcoSaint for making sure this was done and didn't remain a conversation only. Top stuff
Yep I agree 100% this may be on a page I set up, but it's not my initiative, but a Chilcs and Not606 initiative. Let's try to raise as much as we can!
Great effort everyone, up and down the country...of course what it really means is that Rishi is getting a pat on the back because he was correct in thinking that the government didn't need to pay for it because the public would pick up the tab directly. It's not a blanket view of all charities, but I do consider that the need for charity is often just a symptom of a failure of government to care for its population
So, this morning I started researching how I could support this both personally and professionally. Personally, it is easy to provide cash for them, which is a great idea, but professionally it may be we can do more. I work for a Facilities Management company, and have written to our MD this morning to start investigating ways of supporting. We work with a couple of education customers, and want us to start an initiative to investigate with local leaders how many children are affected in these areas. We can work out ways of involving other companies who also work there (there will be onsite caterers run by multi billion £ companies) about funding these children for every holiday they are vulnerable to, not just once. I work at a senior level so can definitely raise this across a senior agenda. Mostly, all companies working in public sector contracts contribute to Social Value, much of which is more of a tick box exercise but it does get ranked in terms of how one performs to their commitments made when trying to win the work. This should absolutely be high up on the scoring criteria and wondered if anyone here works or knows people working in Social Value in a public sector capacity to try to drive that up the agenda too?
Is he a true Saints fan? Or has he jumped on the "man o' the people" bandwagon like Cameron, William, (Villa), Blair (Newcastle) etc?....he's hardly Chocolate Box Kid in disguise
Please don’t let the point of this thread get diverted into politics, we have a thread for that. Thanks
I'll be donating on Thursday which is payday for me. Great cause and great to see so many food outlets up and down the country giving free food. If anyone on here needs a meal at any time in the Southampton area pm me and I'll happily cook for you and your family no questions asked.
Just read this thread and it has pricked my conscience. When lock down started we donated to the local Foodbank, but let it lapse when things loosened up. You lot and Marcus made us set up a monthly payment to the Foodbank, so we cant forget. Well done everyone who is trying to do the right thing. Why we are spending billions on a railway that is already not needed, when there are better uses for the money.COYR.
